Major Nelson has confirmed that MS are refunding customers who were charged too much on Live following incorrect sales tax calculations. Now all you have to do is sit back and let the cash roll back in to your account.

While I admit I am not entirely convinced about their watchdog claims, it's good to see that in other area's MS are willing to publicly state that they f'ked up. The way I see it, it generates a little negativity initially but in the long run does more good than bad as customers and the press admire the honesty, or in the very least can't cook up any conspiracy theories. Sony need to pay attention to this, all their outright denial, lies and half truths are really doing them no good at all.

Just give us a simple,"Yes we know the PS3 is overpriced for a games console, but as we added blu-ray to sweeten the package and can no longer remove it, we are unable to drop the price until blu-ray cost reduce". That would make me happy no end, I still would wait 12months to get one (that usually still keeps you in the dodgy firmware for modding area, but keeps you out of the shitty first batch blues), but it may actualy be enough to get me to give them my beer money for one.

Anyway, Well done MS, Vista may be overpriced buggy bloatware (I don't know about you but I always thought newer software was meant to b more efficient and use less resources, not a case of most pc's have far more resources these days so we won't bother optimising) but you have done well on the 360 and the PR to go along with it.

only cause overcharging goes right to a major lawsuit.

Actually, they've always came clean when they f*ck up. Unless you've been living under a rock, they've done things like this for awhile now, including fixing Version 1.0's for free and refunding money for those who paid for it.

Did you even read the story?

MS are refunding customers who were charged too much on Live following incorrect sales tax calculations.

They couldn't be held accountable in full for the incorrect sales tax.

If this had been Sony given their current PR no doubt the first we would hear of it would be people asking why they have been refunded money. Then finally a claim from a Sony rep that they never overcharged and that the refunds prove the PS3 has the best launch ever in console history and you can have $1,000,000 if you can find anything that sells better, but they can't pay it because the other stuff selling better proves that the PS3 makes your wedding tackle bigger :D :D :D

I'm still waiting for them to appologize for windows. And every time I've been sploited, my operating system died for no reason, and your wrong. Microsoft denies a problem with the 360. Did you not watch the watchdog episode? I suggest you read this post and not play gears of war while doin it.

How many times do I have to explain this to people? The Xbox division compared to Windows is like comparing The House of Representatives to Congress.

And as for your "MS Denies a problem with the 360", are you seriously that ignorant? Even though they have been refunding money to people who deserve it, they are somehow claiming that the 360 has no problems huh? Oh, and Gears of War? Rofl. Would be a nice "insult", except for unlike Sony, the Xbox franchise is known for releasing more then just one great game in 1 year. If I would be playing anything, it'd be Lost Planet.

In full...as in the company and not the person who f*cked up the tax rate. Just like any company, they would just be fined because it wasn't on purpose and it wasn't the whole company's fault, just the person or division or whatnot.

rofl. No, I'm not always pro-MS stuff. The number of my pro-MS and your Anti-MS posts are very easily recognizable. I post what I know, and if anyone would just be fined instead of having their entire company go into trial, it would be Microsoft. Seriously, read up on Microsoft's suits not to mention the law in general. There ARE loopholes, let alone that nothing is Black and White when it comes to litigations.
