Here is a video clip which shows the Xbox 360 report on BBC's Watchdog. It has been much talked about in the last 24 hours as you may well have noticed :).

hehe well this seems to be a trend as of late after 1 year your hardware is going to fail so get those extended warranties (marketing ploy?? I think so).

I agree 100%

I am now on my 5th xbox360's.

It works for 2 or 3 months and than it dies.

will i've had my 360 since it came out here the UK and so far I havent had any problems just the odd time where it has froze but just turned it off then back on and it was all good, so touch wood mine stays like that!!!

Yeah I have to agree..
My first 360 died minutes into PDZ and I had to fight with support just to get a box. Then they kept it for 6 weeks and I had to contact Major Nelson to get it back since support wouldn't tell me what was going on (what was going on was they had so many units returned at that time that they hadn't even touched mine yet).

My 2nd 360 was a nice quiet Samsung, but it died after an MS update.
My 3rd arrived dirty, scratched and not working.
My forth is a crappy, noisy refurb that works, but I have recieved no compensation and no reimbursement for the Live time I lost while all my units were in repair. They also notified me that my warranty was now gone (3 months since purchase) and that further repairs would cost me.
Unlike Nintendo that restarts your warranty when a new unit arrives MS will not reset the warranty because they know their products are crap.

I have dealt with many companies for service (Sony, Nintendo, Logitech, to name a few) and MS has the worst support I have ever experienced.
I have had to phone and phone again. Talk to managers. Wait for hours on hold and actually have to send various e-mails to the "higher ups" just to get results. Very sad for the richest company in the world.

I will not be buying another MS console ever again.

Unrelated, but I went through three original Xboxes. MS is releasing cheap crap, IMO. I mean, really low cost components to increase their margins. Competent hardware design...but put some stuff in there that will survive balmy 100 degree farenheit temperatures, plzkkthxbai

Did yuo notice the mistakes,
1. "...the Xbox 360 not just a computer GAME..."
2. the guys fav game was Gears of War, but they showed footage of GRAW.

Lol mainstream media are really stupid when it comes to this stuff. Its really expensive to fix the 360, i wonder if they even replace any parts etc.

The problem is, the people that have problems will always have the problems because they send out REFURB replacements...all the customers that have systems die are the only ones having issues because they are sending other units that were defective that they "fixed"...

The MAIN issue isn't the "cheap hardware" because the hardware itself is actually really good, what is burning out these systems is HEAT. Microsoft's insufficient cooling is doing more wear and tear on the products via the excess heat. If you "fix" parts that has overheated before, it will run for a while but eventually burn out, that is what is happening with these refurbished units...

bit close to the release of the PS3 this wonder how much sony had to pay for that ! (just like intel paying off dell to only sell there chips and not AMD)

anyway

i have to deal with call centers a lot and im talking a lot i must have to call them 2 - 3 times a week for various computer parts and printers for customers as we dont belive customers should have to do this so we do it for them.

my xbox got 3 red lights i called up was talking to a very well english speaking person in around 7 mins with 5 mins he said yes faulty we will get it collected and before he ended the call he verifed the whole call to me which i have never had happen at a call centere there normally glad to get u of phone to get to the next person.

i was without an xbxo 360 for 1 week which is also very good as i belive they go to france i think to be worked on.

hardware might have problems but just thank god there support lines are very very good.

This has to be a heat issue, if only there were decent aftermarket coolers. To be honest the 360 is so cheap that most people can afford to replace the core unit.

Look at the price of a 8800gtx with a system to run it... round about $1500. With an xbox 360 your getting alot more than crysis for your $400.

Mine died and looks like it's on it's way out again!! And my mates one went maybe 2 weeks later, great games **** hardware. And as for someone who thinks it's a marketing ploy because the ps3 coming out your having a laugh!!The BBC is a public funded!! No outside money!! Or they would have the government to answer too!! Much like non cable channels in America would have to answer to the FCC. I would definately say mine was not a heat issue either hadn't used it for 2 weeks..ish and it stopped straight away same goes for my buddys.

My 360 gave me the ring of death 1 week beforew christmas, I called support center. Here in Portugal you get 2 years warranty in every eletronic product. So after registering my console. They gave me a number from UPS a form to print and send with my console. I sent it Thursday that same week. Microsoft told me it would take them 2 weeks to provess my situation.

I thought "oh well two weeks, then the fixing time, a mont or two. Not to mention this is in time of Christmas Holidays."

January 2nd I receive a package from UPS it was a new Xbox 360 directly from Germany.

This video is purely ignorance and trying to downside a company that has always been suportive of theyr costumers!

Sorry for my bad english.
