View Full Version : Hackers discover HD DVD and Blu-ray "processing key" -- all HD titles now exposed

DRM hacker Arnezami has located the processing key used to decrypt the DRM on ALL Blu-ray and HD-DVD formatted discs. The processing key can be used to unlock, decrypt and backup every HD DVD and Blu-ray disc released on the market so far.

Let's break this down for what it is: instead of needing individual keys for each and every high-definition film -- of which there are many -- the processing key can be used to unlock, decrypt, and backup every HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc film released so far. As arnezami points out, "nothing was actually hacked, cracked or even reverse engineered." All he had to do was keep an eye on his memory, watch what changed, and voila... the processing key appeared. So kick back and watch the trickle of HD titles hitting the torrents quickly turn into a flood (at ~20GB a pop, that's not an exaggeration) when the BackupHDDVD and BackupBluray utilities (or AnyDVD HD) are updated to reflect the new hack find.

Or you just could get the dual layer versions, there hd-dvd movies ript(mostly only the movie, but still in 1080i some in 720p) burned on dvd dual layer and they play perfect on the hd-dvd adon for the xbox360,dont know about normal(stand alone) hd-dvd players. There already on usenet for some time now.

Ironically, the only ones these idiot movie studios have made it hard on is the people actually paying for the stuff. Misinformation, marketing lie and confusing hardware requirments have turned this into a nightmare and to a degree, both camps are just as guilty. Now what? If this thing is going to wind up all over newsgroups anyway you still force people to buy HDMI just to upconvert DVDs?

If you can put it on a DVD DL then my guess eventually that it will have it in XBMC. For HD-DVD at very least, but if they can make a BD codec then that would be funny as hell.

That would be nice too, but I think that'll be awhile before we can do that, maybe January next year, or late this year. I am pretty sure there are hackers working with the xex's to try and convert xbe to xex.

That'd be truly slick, but I remember reading somewheres (probaly XMBC forums) that HD Res playback is not capable w/ the hardware, it can still upconvert tho.

There is no anything to do, for how much one can be striven to create protections, there is always someone that succeeds to decrypt everything!

The xbox only has a 733mhz processor, you need a lot more power than that to play HD movies!

What we is an XBMC for the 360 :D

Thank you for having spared me from having to say that myself.
Although capable w/the Advanced-HD-AV Cable, of 480p/720p & 1080i.
The XBOX™ just DOES NOT have the Juice to turn out HD anything.

With my lame-arsed AMD Smp0rn (Socket 754) @ 1.6Ghz w/512Mb DDR and ATI™ Radion X1600PRO AGP, it's just barely enough to decode most HD Content I'v come across.

So you'd have a BIGGER chance in actually hitting the Lotto then getting High Density-Digital-Versital-Disc's or more over Billy-Ray to work w/the Original XBOX™...
