Forgive me if you've already tried or thought of this, but you can find out for sure if the DVD remote problem is from phoenix loader or from the hacked xtf files. Get ahold of an xbox with the problem, this time instead of using the font hack to run the loader, use 007AUF/MA, or audio hack. Make sure font files/other hacks are off the system, and then see if remote prob still persists...

The DVD remote causing reboot/shutdown issue is a problem with the font exploits, not the loader.
You'd have to speak with Free-X about this.

I wish there was a way to contact free-x... So we could openly discuss all this

We've already spoken to free-x about this issue. The acknowledge that the problem exists, and have been aware of it since before the original release of the fonts.
The problem is the same as being unable to use the microsoft dash with the fonts installed. The dash attempts to draw text to the screen, but loading the font causes the exploit to trigger.
There is a theoretical solution to this problem, but it is rather complex, and has yet to be implemented.
Nor would I expect it to be anytime soon.
DvdX works just fine for me. :-)

my view is that instead of attempting to fix the font files so that they set the clock to the 4th of july or fix dvd prob, free-x or whoever's worked on the hacked fonts should modify bert and ernie so that they can coexist with Xbox and Xbox book.
For example, if you hold down the black key on bootup (I luv the black key!), then bert and ernie are instructed to pass on the loading process to the normal Xbox and Xbox book. Essentially holding down this key suppresses the xploit, allowing you to boot up normally to msdash.
Clock dies? no prob, just hold down the key and set it in the dash.
Wanna play a DVD with remote? same
Wanna use xblive? again these would all be fixed!
I mean, how hard can it be to add some code like this, instead or tiring yourself out like hell trying to find a clock solution (like bigfonts is doing). Does this sound feasible to u artifex?

Extremely hard.
If you really want a detailed explanation as to why it would be so incredibly difficult, I can give you one.

I believe you... I'm not the one writing the code! But maybe it's possible to give me a brief idea of where the difficulty lies.. I thought it might be possible since you guys wrote BICOE, and what Snuffleupagus.xtf did seems more complicated than what I proposed. I realize my thought was rather superficial... thx for responding arti

All you have todo is to start a modified original dashboard with the font hack. No matter if you do it directly or use evox to do it.
After the hacked dashboard is loaded the DVD remote will work flawlessly.
This works 100% I watched several DVDs that way.

Ionic is very right. It is a very reliable solution.
Interfacing with the xpad from within font exploit is nearly impossible, for now, basically because the code for usb/usb-devices is all in the libraries, which are statically linked into the xbe.
The complexity of what BiCoE does pales in comparison to the work involved in accessing the usb from within non-xbe code.

Well I just heard about eject tray, so that might work... But user interaction aside, would it theoretically be possible (and not very hard) to make an OscartheGrouch.xtf that allows normal bootup in msdash?
