Yeah, just drive 8, he released this only so that others could improve their code.

youre right:(
Read down the bottom of page 2 on that link. They were talkingabout comparing it to anaconda (the drive 8 code) to check for differences. Basically to try and fix the idle bug?
"I was looking anaconda.c (GCOS) yesterday. They changed MOV D0,($8220) to MOV D0,($87FC) in five places of DriveCode08 table. The rest of code is the same."
"No Swap means for "PSOers" that they don't have to swap in a given time interval anymore. You could even trigger the whole process with the lidswitch on/off variable which would make it work like a Datel Freeloader. And we would have the "Idle Bug Fix", a problem which I've never expirienced but a lot of people seem to have problems after idling."
The drive code has been available for a few days now I think, I'm suprised no one has recompiled GCOS using the newer drive code. "No Swap" would certainly be nice, because having a timed swap is rather annoying. I'd love to just start AR to start GCOS then just change to my DVD-R.

This Drive 8 code the tmbinc released is not for the direct boot thing, this is only improved code for drive 8 support.

Ive been messing around with the cobra 1.0 drive 8 code, putting it into the anaconda04 code. Its deffinantly no swap code.
I just cant get anything to boot. I use +r media, and i dont know anything about mn10200 or this address tmbinc spoke of.
Ive had others with -r media test it for me too, but they couldnt get it to work either, in part because their no time to swap in a new disk. I tryed to put the code into gcos to help get past that issue, but ive run into compile error after compile error. Latest one is a "file in wrong format" error i think. lol i gave up, ill just wait for a utopia release.

mn10200 is not an entry point or load address..its a chip on the dvd board.

Yeah. I know, im not that dumb...
But from what tmbinc said you need a understanding of that mn10200 chip to derive the address. I dont have that understanding, so i could only go so far with getting that code to work.
I dont even think the address hes talking about is a dol entry point or load address. Not sure but i think it a address were the drive code itself is suposed to be loaded to. Like 0x8502 in anaconda04. Could be wrong though. I dont know much about asm. I'm a hex, c++, html, cgi, mirc script guy.
I didnt mean to suggest you were dumb.
I was trying to help.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
