Yesterday Sega indicated that they will be the first publisher to bring a 1080p compatible title to the Xbox 360 via Virtua Tennis 3. BUT, world famous EA has stepped in today to announce they will infact be swiping the honour. NBA Street Homecourt will support the ultra high resolution and ships a whole MONTH earlier than VT 3. Sorry Sega.

Following yesterday's news that Sega's March 20 release of Virtua Tennis 3 would herald the first Xbox 360 game to feature native 1080p support, a representative from Electronic Arts has revealed to Gamasutra that its upcoming NBA Street Homecourt, shipping a month earlier on February 20, will also support the high end resolution on Xbox 360.

While Microsoft first announced support for native 1080p games and movies in its October 2006 Xbox Live update, it heralded a number of titles competing to be the first to offer the highest-end HD resolution, and it appears that EA's title will indeed beat Sega's to retail with the hitherto not well-publicized resolution included.

Exactly, with Sony touting their 1080 capabilities, MS really took a nice step foward they should push some more console sales.

Battlestations: Midway & Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions are both "FULL HD" 1080p games....

On the back of both packages it states:
HDTV: 480p / 720p / 1080i / 1080p

RR7 is full 1080p. also that shitty basketball game with kobe on it is also 1080p.others are 1080i and 720p. so no,technically,ps3 already has 1080p games on the market. i recently got me my 50inch samsung HD1080p,and im running my ps3 thru hdmi and RR7 looks:eek: but i do know what u mean tho. sony did brag all this **** about all games being 1080p. and as far as that goes,i only know 2 out of 15-20 games out now thats truly 1080p. also who cares if that EA game will reach first than VT3,i bet you VT3 will be a much better game anyways. i loved the VT series on DC and psp,so **** EA,go sega!

I find it crazy all this 1080i/p business you won't be able to see the difference between the two unless you have a 50" screen or a smaller 32" and sit next to it!! saying that if your sitting more than 5' away from a 32" you will have a hard job telling 720p from the rest!!

You're right, but some of us have TV's that you CAN see a difference on:

Wow...I never expected those words to come from you. lol. Feeling generous today? :p

This is cool and all, but EA sucks ass. They'll deliver with 1080p but then they'll make you pay 90 bucks more for downloadable content.

Did you not read his post carefully? He said 1080p PERIOD. Meaning no HDMI cable only, VGA Cable, etc. Cause if that was the case, Dead Rising was 1080p back in 2006, but you can't say that because it wasn't truely 1080p. What EA and SEGA are doing is making sure that even people with SDTVs get a HD experience. Though I'll have to agree with you with EA and SEGA, I've been a SEGA fan since the Mastersystem so EA can blow it out their ass.

Virtua Fighter 5 for the PlayStation 3 is 1080p aswell, so is Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection.

I know VF5 is because it says it on the back of the Japanese Case for the PS3 release.

So is Ridge Racer 7, NBA 2007 (but it really sucks ass), Full Auto 2, Gran Turismo HD.

Heres a link Virtua Fighter 5 as a 1080p title for PS3. (http://www.ncsx.com/2007/020507/virtua_fighter_5.htm)

So thats actually SIX PlayStation 3 titles which are out which support 1080p.

But saying that, its nice to see it being used in XBOX 360 Games.

Interlaced is two images together hence you see in 480i and 1080i horrible lines on the edges of some of the graphics.

Progressive you get one image and the picture is crisp, I think I'm correct. Correct me if I'am wrong but looking at Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection on PS3 in 1080p is worth the purchase and the graphics are better than the Arcade Version and WAY BETTER than the PSP version for those who go its a PSP port because I have both the PSP and PS3 versions and I noticed a huge difference in the graphics.

But I did like the nice extras on the PS3 download, it gives you the Tekken 5 Levels and the Level where its night and theres like white flowers in it looks sweet in HD.:D
