The Advanced Access Content System Licensing Authority has confirmed that a hacker has successfully enabled HD-DVD discs to be copied BUT the AACS protection has not been fully attacked. They claim the hack will only work on certain titles.

According to the BBC Technology website, the Advanced Access Content System Licensing Authority has said that the hack can only be used on a limited number of titles, stating, "It does not represent an attack on the AACS system itself."

The licensing authority said the hacker had managed to access encryption keys from "one or more" software programs used to play HD-DVDs, but declined to name them.

They had said this about 3 months ago. Also, the people who came up with this method were able to use it on BD movies too.

Yeah like every title that has been released so far, but the same thing can be said for Blu-Ray too.

Bull****! In its current state, the "hack" (wich it isn't, it's more a crude implementation of AACS) does work with every title as long as they are playable in WinDVD8. Wich means all current titles, and certainly many future...
