Welcome to CycloWiz website !
Look at the features page for the official feature list, we left the best for last, a nice little trick up our sleeve, that's sure to please all.... The chip is fully upgradable, so future proof, and the feature list will be improved over time!
The first batch of chips were sent on the 2nd of February to the retailers, so end-users will start receiving theirs on the 7th of February. Of course the installation manual will be posted in the meantime.
Real website to be launched soon, including a support forum. For once our R&D team was faster than the web designer :)

Great news but somewhat seems strange... why they would only annouce this now?
I saw many people in many boards cancelling their orders of cyclowiz..
Hope that this is true cause it would be very sad if in the future they just never rls any update...
hey good 1st post heh. but seriously i thought about this too. honestly they probably got scared and added something last min. of course i could be 100% wrong but you still wonder why they waited something like this last min. and lost potentially alot of customers before.
because this is one of the 1st chips to come out with upgrade ability hopefully the company will support the chip.

Upgradeable is the only option thease days.

how funny...
maxconsole did a "review" and didn't see the MAJOR HUGE option for upgrade.
Maxconsole please cut the crap and just say you are advertising this chip and nothing else.

I've gotta say, the upgradable functionality is the key to this devices' success... As I'm not interested in backup-playing, I'm personally going to wait until I see some region-free support & homebrew Wii support here, then I might just have to give in & order...

If i sold you a Xbox 360 with the FW mod without letting you know that it's upgradeable how the hell would you know? Same goes for the CycloWiz don't you think? How can they comment on a feature that they might not know about and even if they would how can they try it if there is no updates to do it?!? -_-
Just a note to everybody: Please ignore any stupid comments which seek to cause pointless flaming. Stay on topic, the best way to fight stupidity is to ignore it :).

It's impossible for only a drive mod to support region unlocking, so updates won't help there...
And I wonder what actually is the good part of this updating, cause if the device is updateable (and so detectable) by the creator, then it's probably also detectable (and destructable) by Nintendo...
And things like what are they planning to add with that update then?

it's a tactic to move chips, is it even possible to reprogram those sx 28's ? with only those quick solder spots? i really think they just try to grab a quick buck and make-up a function since wiikey is coming out with a new chip and can be upgraded via dvd, Cyclowiz try to grab the markey share before wiikey comes out and once they make their money they will be long gone before any update shows up....my 2 cents...:rolleyes:

The only thing stopping me from ordering a Wiz right this minute is the Wiikey's claim:
"Boots different NTSC region Wii games/backups"
Can anyone comment further? Can we play Japanese games on an American Wii using the Wiz too?

Be sure to blow the dust off of your Wii first!:p
So will we need to wait for action replay wii before someone figures out how to enable the region free stuff? And is this DVD upgradeable just for the disc recognition or for actual upgrades to some bios?

As far as I know, this is not a feauture of the mod chip.
All the mod chips do is letting the drive know that the backup is not a backup, but an original disc. This is also all it can do, it is not able to change anything like running nonsigned code or allowing other regions than which allowed by the Wii...
So how does WiiKey support Japanese Wii games on an American Wii? Hmm well, try putting a legit Japanese Wii game into your American Wii, I think it just works.
A little quote (http://geek.pandemonium.de/2006/11/28/nintendo-wii-not-region-locked/) that sorta proves this (although I couldn't find a real test):
The Wii will be built to play the games from the area which it will be used in. So a UK Wii will only play European games oh and Australian games as they are on PAL as well. The USA Wii will play their games and Japanese games as they are NTSC.

seems like inexperience. the swap method for gamecube is also ridiculous. i'm not a hardware hacker but fully understand how the gamecube, nintendo ds, and wii headers work. every game has a 4 letter game code. the first character says what system it's on. let me use smash bros melee as an example. it's GALE
G = gamecube
AL = smash melee
E = USA
if you have GALJ
then it's the japanese version. if you have GALP it's the European version. The same goes for zelda RZDE on the Wii.
R = Wii (revolution)
ZD = Zelda
E = USA
Say you have the japanese version of the Zelda and want to play it on a US console. you change the game code from RZDJ to RZDE (or the chip can send RZDE via patch-on-the-fly. This should not be a problem, but as i said, it's probably inexperience with how the CDs are structured in terms of data. This shouldn't be an issue since the BIOS is upgradable hope to see it included soon.
and before you guys say this won't work on the Wii, the header for the Wii Discs aren't encrypted. Everything else this. This is probably why the WiiKey modchip claims to support Imported Wii Games

Well given that Cyclowiz has an actual shipping PCB+chip and not a mock drawing of a PCB+chip like wiikey with no verification that it's even reality, I would give Cyclowiz the benefit of the doubt.
Edit: and if anyone was trying to grab the market share it was wiikey, no pictures of actual product, just a drawing and this is what it can do. It will be shipping in 1.5 weeks. Both Cyclowiz and wiinja have install videos and pictures, but wiikey has a mock design of what it will look like, with attached claims of what it can do. Not very credible based on those details.

read two posts above
is it possible to install it with wires? if yes, where can you put the chip so the case can closed again?
oh yes, one thing i want to ask:
is it possible, that a future update of the chip will include the possibility to play NTSC-games on PAL-wii's?

Dude, even I would be able to think of such a thing, which means it's certainly not that simple.
It's not encryption which is disallowing to do so, but some sort of signature hash thingy which becomes unvalid if you change anything in the file. So if you modify anything on the disc, it will just not play. This is also why homebrew is not possible, just because you can't run code without having this special signature thingy.
If you're theory would be true, you wouldn't even need to update the modchip, just hex-edit the image a bit before you burn, but it's just not.
Also, Wii-Key doesn't claim to support other regions, they only say it supports Japanese Wii games on a USA Wii and as they're both NTSC I think the only region lock on the Wii is that NTSC games don't work on PAL wii and PAL games not on NTSC Wii. Does anyone have actually tested to play a real Japanese NTSC game on a USA NTSC Wii?

yes, they break the region lock, but haven't done a vertical refresh to force 60hz(ntsc) from 50hz(pal). that would be more hardware related. they can only do dvd interception which means they can send false information from the DVD (like reporting a different region).
this isn't underheard of because all the nintendo DS carts do patch on the fly and the header does have a CRC check to further complicate things.
i'm in the process of patching a JAP gamecube game to USA to see if changing the gamecode will allow the game to boot. this could be the key to swap-less gamecube imports. as for wii imports, we can only hope the fact that nintendo doesn't encrypt the gamecode will be the key to allowing imported games to run

The thing that kinda sucks is that Divineo seems to be sold out of their first shipment already and they've switched to pre-order status. everytime i preordered from divineo, they always charged my card right away, no matter if the pre-order was a week or over a month.
i pre-ordered a simply ds and a blaster360 from them in december, and finally gave up late january. ordered from foundmy and got my simply the next week. and i'm just gonna wait on the blaster360 til it's out, i'd still be waiting for both cause divineo was gonna ship both at the same time when the blaster was released even after i told them i would pay seperate shipping just to get my simply, and they said the simply was on backorder again. well the blaster360 still not out yet.

It uses an Ubicom SX28 which is *not* programmable withouth an external programmer and connection to the oscillator pins.
Since there are no other components like flash memories or such, the "dvd upgradable" story is just a way to make a quick buck making up features before they can be proven wrong.
Sorry but I won't buy it if they feel they need to lie to the customers.
