Yoshi's Island DS Music Hack?!

Recently I've been playing Yoshi's Island DS. Although the game itself is really good, I'm having trouble stomaching the music. Compared to the original game for the SNES, the music in this game is absolutely horrendous. I feel it really does change the experience of the game! So I'm wondering...does anybody out there have the skills to create a hack of this game that uses the music from the original Yoshi's Island?? Is this even possible??

What do you guys think? I'd personally send anybody here that can pull it off 10 bucks! (Not much, I know...but if others chip in, it could be quite lucrative!)...it's worth it to me as it would improve the entire gameplay experience 10 fold!

The game has the same types of stages...(overworld, castles, underworld, etc.), and so it could be a simple case of simply replacing stages with their respective music counterparts from the other game...

So what do you guys think? If this is impossible, I will put my idea to rest.....Oh, and if it is possible, can this person please make it compatible with the SC Lite? :D

Nice idea! I don't think it's impossible, but I do think you should somehow convert the SPC SNES audio files to the DS. Or using the Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island music files, which have a lower quality.
Anyway, I agree with you - the music of Yoshi's Island DS sucks. It's minimalistic, ambient, totally joyless. Quite the opposite of the Koji Kondo work for the original game. Shame.

I'm glad you agree! Kondo's music is quite inspiring...even New Super Mario Bros.' music was lacking compared to the other Mario games (the music wasn't composed by Kondo though he did oversee the process it seems), but I wouldn't call it BAD like I would the Yoshi's Island DS music...it's flat out DISTRACTING from the experience it's so bad....

So anyway, if this was done, I'm hoping the sound files would be taken from the SNES version of Yoshi's Island and not the GBA version since the quality should be optimized for the DS....

If somebody could help me convert the SPC music from Yoshi's Island SNES into files the DS would know how to use, it would be greatly appreciated! Although, even then I wouldn't know how to actually modify the rom of this, so it's probably best if the brave soul that takes on this task would do it as they would probably know best what format would be necessary...
