The following chart from 'VGcharts' indicates that the Xbox 1 sold more during its early months than the Xbox 360 has managed. The figures however don't seem totally accurate, and this isn't really comparing like-for-like as the Xbox 360 was introduced to the market as the only next-gen console (early adopters etc).

I hate to say it looks correct to me. I want to point out that this is a comparison between the sales in the US alone (so basically NPD data only). You can check it out at http://www.vgcharts.org/usaconscomps.php?name1=X360&name2=XB&type=2.

Its very well known just how limited the supplies were of the 360 for the first few months then by the time it was widely available it was getting into a time of year no one wanted to purchase the console so its hard to say if this is a sign of things to come or a sign that Microsoft had major supply issues for a long time.

One thing that the article does point out well is that Xbox360 was the only next gen console for about a year, meanwhile Xbox was out with PS2 and GameCube, so in order for Xbox to sell so well with competition, means it is doing better than Xbox360 (had no competition for 1 year). Furthermore, I really think Xbox when it came out with Halo is the reason for it starting off so well. Xbox360 for a while didn't have an amazing system seller app (much like PS3 is now).

The other thing is Xbox360 is available in much more regions, and doing much better in Japan than Xbox did, therefore if you include other regions, I'm sure the XBox360 will be selling faster than Xbox.

being the first to the market has its goods and bads.

early adopters will buy one right away, and MS fanboys.
But a LOT of people (including me) waited a year after the 360 was launched, because I wanted to see how it stacked up to the competitors, I bought my 360 this last November...Once I concluded it was the best system for me out of the big three.

the famous 3 red lights (ring of death) which started from day one !! has scared many buyers from spending their hard earned cash on xbox360.

Ummmm you couldnt find a 360 anywhere. Thats why I was able to sell my spot in line on launch day for 350.00! This is the same reason why everyone thought they could do the same with the PS3. Pick one up and put it on EBay for a huge profit. NOPE nobody wants the PS3. MS instantly sold every console released up until March (atleast).

All depends on the price the xbox 1 and the ps2 in my country they are sold to torn prices.

A player buying the console at the end of it life, it has the advantage to have available all the games without owing to wait for them.

If the Xbox fail last generation, and this generation, the 360 can't even out performed the Xbox during launch, then the 360 is in an even worst state than the Xbox. The 360 is destine to be doom too.
