Ok i feel like a **** right now, i was changing the umd drive on my brothers psp as we didnt want to use the noumd mode anymore, everything was going well i removed the anti static solder from the laser ribbon cable no problem then i was taking the psp apart but while removing the ribbon cables for the screen i couldnt see what part of the backlight cable clip (the small one) to lift up and instead of lifting the black clip i damaged the small gold wires that go down to the motherboard and now the socket has some play in it.

When i put the device back together sure enough everything is working except the backlight gggrrrrrrrrrrr. I reckon its gonna be a new motherboard so where is the cheapest place i can purchase one thats compatable (the unit is an original jap psp 1000).

Please help!!

P.S Sorry if this is in the wrong section but i know more people look at this part of the forum :P

Can i replace with any motherboard, such as a TA082 instead of the existing one? or does it have to be the same?

my experience has been so far that you need to swap them as a unit, for instance the wifi card from teh 82 board does not seem to work with the 79-81 and visa versa, also the sheilding plate under the motherboard differs between the 82 and the others, not changing that shield will screw up the board if your not careful.

The shield has some contacts on it that touch the 2 board types differently.
