exactly as i predicted. the wording on the adz leading up 2 release said it all "no slow down in gameplay".

the whole point of hdd is faster loading times and no wear on the lens. they fked up on both of those with this device.

no point using slimline ps2. stick to the old bricks. :)

brakken i think you are right about the loading speed of usbextreme but i think pstwo has usb 2.0 and not just only usb 1.1 like ps2...... Anyone tested usbextrme (or usbadvance ;) ) to a pstwo ?

I just got Swap Magic 3.6 for my PStwo (slim). Is it possible for me to make a USB Advance disk and boot that from SwapMagic, and then load games off my hard drive?

/PStwo noob

Excelent point. Lets face it, USB Extreme was made for the PSTwo Slimlines in mind since they do not have a native HD connection, not for the original PS2's which realisticly have no need for such a work-around.

the v12 or PSTwo slimline units do not have USB2.0. They are USB1.1 like the v1-11

USBextreme/USBadvance is also much less compatible than HDloader, as it is incapable of supporting HDloader's mode 3. In addition, I don't think any of the hdloader updates like the cracked toxic core have a chance in hell of being applied to USBadvance, so it'll be effectively useless in a year or so when every game has HD protection of some sort or another.

now that a cracked version is floating around, at the very least try it out first and see if it's even tolerable for you, but more likely I think people should stay away from this awful product, and just perform the IDE mod IF they are unfortunate enough to wind up with a slim ps2 and want to run games off a hard drive.

in the ps3 will be out in six months, in a year or so i doubt sony will care about hd protection for ps2 games

Not true Arlyn. PS1 was still creating anti modchip codes for their games long after ps2 was released.

Yeah, but sony already had those codes. At this point they don't even know how to hd protect games. It's pure speculation to say they'll ever even find a way.

maybe im missing something here....but if the usbextreme worked in theory...you could take a game...copy it to the hd...then never have to use the disk again? i keep reading about using swapdisk with this and it doenst make anysense why you would, and if you did have to use swapdisk, what the hell is the point in using the hd?

thanks!
