Can you use normal size DVD-Rs to burn gamecube backups, for play on the Wii? Because they are a lot cheaper than the Mini-DVDRs and they would fit now. But I heard a rumour that the wii checks the physical disc size to see if it should try to boot Wii or GCN...
Anyone know?

Backup your original GC on specific dvd-r drive with the appropriate firmware, the mini disc sits firmly in the normal dvd tray.
Use rawdump 2.1 or rawdump 2.0 software, click Start, Will automatically backup your GC original, burn image on normal dvd+r using imageburn preferebly on 4x speed.

why not using a Multi ISO tool to play your NGC games, instead of burning game by game, you can burn whatever it takes to reach the limit of 4.7 GB. I do that to keep my space, like mario games on one, Starfoxes, Prince of Persia on one disc , etcetc..
I am just so sad I cant finda NTSC version of Sonic DX :(
