According to slashdot: http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/01/29/1114228
Adobe is releasing their full specification to ISO. This means that making applications for PDF will become alot easier and may make developing a pdf reader on the DS more likely. Keep an eye out over the next few months.

1) open pdf
2) print to jpg (pdftools or whatever)
3) ComicbookDS
4) Wipe hands on pants.

But Comic book ds files are very big compared to their source PDF files.
(250pg book: PDF ~14-15mb comicbook ds file 48mb)

It's PDFtools that seems to be the problem there. I used it to convert an 11MB pdf to a series of jpgs and they came out at almost 30MB in total. Lowering the quality a little in PDFtools gave awful looking results, so instead I ran the jpgs through photoshop to lower the bitrate and ended up with a perfect looking cbds file that was just 8MB.

Someone mind explaining a bit more in detail how to go about converting a pdf to a jpg?

Download and install PDFill PDF tools (http://www.topshareware.com/Free-PDFill-PDF-Writer-and-PDF-Tools-download-17648.htm), then open it and click "Convert PDF to Images". Follow the steps and you'll be left with a series of image files. Easier than pie.

perfect, works like a charm, got it added, Comic loads it just fine. Last question, is the touch screen supposed to not work if its loaded on an R4? I patched it using the dldi patcher to get past the fat error. Its workable to read a book without the touch screen, just a pain. Any help would, as always, be appreciated.

I'll have to try this. Does it make one jpeg or several after conversion?

Several. One for each page of the PDF.

One thing to keep in mind is that it numbers the jpgs "1, 2, 3... 9, 10, 11" etc. This means that when you make a rar of the images, you'll need to rename the first nine "01, 02, 03" and so on, or they'll be out of sequence in the comic book file.
