Is it true? Devil May Cry 4 coming to the 360

A recent issue of PSM reports that Capcom will be bringing the Devil May Cry series to the Xbox 360. Again this has not been confirmed by Capcom and may be mere wishful thinking.


Inside, there is an article discussing the future of Devil May Cry 4 and whether it will remain a PS3 exclusive. PSM is reporting that Capcom will be showing some more Microsoft love and will be bringing the series to the Xbox 360. We've all heard this rumor before, but we're starting to feel a little more giddy by the day.

Capcom has had excellent success with the 360 and the PS3 is looking weak right now so I could see it happening.
To be honest I don't like DMC. Played the first one....that was enough for me.

This would make my year. I don't care about Metal Gear 4, But I really do care about Devil May Cry. I really hope this happens. It would be in Capcom's best interest as their other games have sold well over a million copies.

While this would be a good idea on Capcom's part, what wouldn't be a good idea is releasing the 360 version months after the PS3 version. History shows people just don't care anymore after the game's already been out (unless it ends up a classic and we're talking ten+ years down the road). Not even if the first release was on a dead-at-the-starting-gate console.

Capcom has released two outstanding games for the 360. If they release this for the 360 it will defintely cripple Sony taunted PS3. I would love to see this for the 360. Why the hell not? What will they loose. Capcom has more to gain releasing it for both consoles than just one. Again however if it is released months after the PS3 version then it may not be such a big bust.

Now.. if Square Enix would just give the 360 some more love. Imagine FF series on the 360?

This my friend may be in the works. Over at IgN.*om, There is an article about Square going to change graphics engines for all there next FF and other games on next-gen to the Unreal 3 engine. They even stated that they will be using more outsourcing of different things to keep up with current technology. Epic who makes "Gears of War" and are the creators of the Unreal Engine, Have great relations with Microsoft. I have no-doubt that Square will see some of the things created for the Xbox360 And will then Decide to go where the money is. They will loose faith in Sony this year and will then start making games for Microsoft's Box. Lets hope this happens.

Truth be told, I can't totally discount the above speculative comments about SquareEnix potentially warming to the 360. SquareEnix seems to be fixated on Nintendo's platforms for their primary revenue. This should suggest that they would have very little interest in next-gen development at all. Yet it is too much of a gamble to outright ignore the next gen consoles. And the final ingredients? The fact that it is very, very easy to develop a game for the 360, combined with the already existing and soon-to-be RPGs (Japanese RPGs, at that) on said platform. Anything developed on the 360 has a very good shot at making money in the Western markets, and SquareEnix has to be aware of the fact that their games do sell well over here. And so, just as with Capcom, perhaps at the end of the day it will simply be a matter of profit margins.

I'd like to know what the best selling game on the PS3 is and how many units it has moved thus far. If I remember correctly COD2 was around a million units by Jan-Feb, wonder if that many copies of RFoM have been sold. If they cant get the numbers up of games sold companies will have no choice but do multi console releases just to break even or make a profit.

Capcom so far is cashing in from the two 360 games they have put out so far and DMC would be a no brainer for them. Plus seeing games like Gears hit the 3 million mark after 3 only months, a franchise as popular as DMC makes the potential for turning a profit alot greater on the 360. It gonna take alot of money from Sony to keep this one exclusive.

Yeah seems like the 360 is doing better than most anticipated and the PS3 is doing certainly worse than what they predicted. Square seems to cater more towards it's eastern crowd. With games like Gears of War, Dead Rising, and Lost Planet booming the sales charts it's solidifying the 360's foothold on the console market. IF Square makes an exclusive game for the 360 I'm sure they will generate profitable revenue. The PS3 as it stands looks as if it will take the following holiday season to see it's killer app due to it's newfound unproven power. I hope this rumor is true for DMC...those games had a graphic appeal... and Dante.. well.. he has been in several games... heck why not throw him in the next gen Super Smash Melee as well along with Solid Snake.

Final Fantasy has never really been a Sony exclusive, true a few only came out on the Playstation, but the majority have been spread over multiple platforms (I played 7 + 8 originally on the PC as wobbly PS 3D used to mess with my head during my college stoner years :o ). Devil May Cry is made by a third party so can be on any format they choose. So that just leaves GT, which as pointed out will remain an in house Sony product unless sony stop making consoles, similar to what Sega did.

PSM is also unofficial, making it hardly reliable! I hate unofficial magazines, you pay like £3 to £5 for a magazine and they give you a lot of ****.

As for Final Fantasy, they released Final Fantasy XI on XBOX 360 because they knew they could make a lot of money from an online game and getting it onto a popular online service such as Live would be a profitable idea.

Oh and I checked the Japanese website for Capcom, No DMC4 in the 360 list so yeah PSM just threw **** into their mag lol

When you think about it, its simple symantics.

Capcom will go where the money is and thats the 360. They have already seen what the 360 has done with Lost Planet and Dead Rising so they know they have a bona fide market.

I dont particularly care for DMC myself and I wouldnt buy it but plenty of people would probably.

For me the death knell for Sony will be if Square/Enix move to Nintendo as looks likely, they will die in the water if that happens. Nintendo are white hot in terms of sales on both the DS and the Wii and that wont have gone unnoticed by any of the big development houses in Japan.

Have to agree with you there. When I had my PS2, I only had 2 games, or series rather, on it. DMC and GoW. Seeing as I highly doubt GoW2 or even 1 will be out for the 360, I really hope DMC4 will be on it. DMC was good, DMC2 sucked ass, and DMC3 was great. I'm afraid though that DMC4 may take a turn for the worst since it's not Dante. Sure it doesn't HAVE to be Dante for the game to rule, but since DMC2 just so happen to have a second character in it and it ended up sucking...you never know.

On another note, not as many Sony fanboys in this thread. Except for the lost cause that is Technosexual. If you have a problem with the gaming division then I understand that, but from what you told me, you have a problem with the PC section...which is about as far as you can get from the gaming set up. As for the Sony fanboy, well...you are. lmao. You don't only peddle your "Sony is better then Xbox" in the Xbox forums, I've seen you in the Nintendo section doing the same thing; ie saying Sony is better then Nintendo when obviously that isn't the case this time around. But even if you didn't do that, it's just always the Sony "Fanboys" who take on MS and vice versa. Nintendo is pretty calm. We never hear about how they are so much better then the other companies, let alone them lie about how great their product is.

On another note, I never mentioned your post. Though there is one tid-bit you overlooked, Xbox360fanboy stated the rumor of Virtua Fighter 5 before IGN got ahold of it.


why would i bash nintendo? i like them way more than sony, i have a wii, i dont want a ps3 yet, i havnt even touched one theres no reason for me to. so youre wrong there. and like i said im anti ms not really anti xbox, from a purely gamer standpoint the xbox has some good games(i loved halo1, halo2 to a lesser extent, and im waiting for halo3)

and i wouldnt really call ign reputable, wernt they the ones that gave ps3 that whatever of the year award? i was talking more along the lines of news actually coming from capcom.

and you say you have no sort of biased, but yet you say 360 won this console run when the wii/ps3 have only been out for about 2 months, and ps3 not even being out in europe yet. 360 might have the biggest foothold currently but you cant say theyve won yet, its too early to tell anything.
