Sony Pictures Halt Ghostbusters Game

A developer has revealed that Sony pictures instructed for all references to Zootfly's Ghostbuster game to be removed from the web. Even the video of beta gameplay can no longer be found at Youtube. Lets hope both parties can resolve the licensing issues as this game was shaping up to be a promising game.


The recently released Ghostbusters movies from an early-in-development Xbox 360 game have been pulled off the web at the request of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

CVG contacted the developer and was told that the videos were indeed removed at the request of Sony Pictures and all references to the game have been removed from its website while negotiations over the rights continue behind closed doors. Fingers crossed Sony doesn't pull the plug, it was looking good.

Of course Sony is going to make them stop, the game was going to be on the 360.

They can still change the game to the point where it doesnt violate sony's copyright, after all sony doesn't own the right to the whole concept of hunting ghosts.

Yeah now that S0NY®™ ~no matter how dense the are!~ should have a clue as to the popularity of this 'Title' Property.
My guess is it'll become a PS3 Exclusive!!
I mean who'd begrudge S0NY®™ the chance to have at least One decent Game for there PS3, before the much hyped-about MGS4?? :D

I just can't believe this story, even a simpleton knows that there is a thing called copy right law.

There is no way this company would have started development on a game without having first approached Sony.

I have a feeling that there is a problem with them using cetain images on there site, however if it's true that they failed to get an agreement from Sony first then they deserve all they get.

From the footage I saw, the game was far enough removed from the Ghostbusters IP (minus Ecto-1 and costumes). They could probably move forward with their ideas, just change a few of the things. With the publicity the game has received thus far, everyone will refer to it as "The Ghostbusters Game" without it actually being titled that.

I hear you, but I'm surprised that there's not as many gamers out there like me; listening to the movie world at the same time. Ghostbusters 3: Ghostbusters In Hell has finally taken off so my guess is that's why they've haulted it. Maybe to add content or to change the story around to fit the movie or something.

I got it, they call it "Ghost Hunter's Dream" and they just add the TAPS team's likeness into it. lol.
