View Full Version : MS Confirm EVERY Crackdown will contain Halo 3 Beta Invite
Microsoft has confirmed that EVERY copy of Crackdown for the Xbox 360 will include an invite to experience the Halo 3 beta.
A Microsoft representative confirmed to IGN that every copy of Crackdown includes an invite to the Halo 3 beta. If you want in on the beta (and didn't earn an invite by other means), purchase a copy of Crackdown on February 20 and you'll be set. You can even purchase a copy on February 21 or even March 15 and still be in the clear. Oh, and you'll get a copy of Crackdown to boot. Sweet!

From what I've seen this game honestly looks like crap. I'm not judging the gameplay, cause I haven't played it, but graphically it looks generic. I'm thinking the H3 beta keys are going to be the main pusher of the game.

I'm only going to buy it if I don't get into the beta Feb. 1st.

so I take it that the majority thought the crackdown demo sucked enough to make MS do this

Really? When was the last time they did anything remotely like this? Even if it did happen, it sure doesn't happen often enough for people to think "this is how M$ sells games."

from my understanding, the disc IS the invite. so no disc, no halo 3 beta. it's not going to be just a key code on a piece of paper.

Which would then mean a bootleg copy of the game would work? I would think theres some kind of key to input that comes with it.

They've never done this before. Considering that wii sells are selling them dry they to milk halo and revert to desperate measures. It was a shot at ms for having shitty games that can't sell themself. Not that they've done this every time. How could you not get that simple of a joke?

Key input makes more sense then an embedded key. too much work. Ms aint about work.

That's an interesting comment considering they've worked pretty f-ing hard for years and years to not only provide coherent and flexible software but a more-than-decent consoles.
I would agree though that the 'free' beta is a cheap way of getting more sales for those that are halo crazy (including me).
Oh yeah, and for the guy who said he was prob the only one who liked the demo, I thought it was pretty good too. Sure the missions shallow as s hit, but sandbox games always are imagination based. If you've got the imagination you can have some decent fun with it.

I didn't understand anything you just wrote in that first sentence. And what do you mean "shitty games that can't sell themself?" How else have the games been selling? Beta invites, perhaps?
Yeah...brilliant joke.

I think that when you insert that game and accept the invite for the beta it will store the key onto your console and lock it with the console id, so if you sell the game and someone else uses the game and trys to get the invite it will say it already been used. This means it unfair because with the copies still working people may get the beta with a copied game.
I think its a wrong thing to do really, include that to sell the game, seems to game will be horrible and that is why they are including that beta key.
Still is making making at its best for Microsoft as usual.

Yeah, the demo is fucking ****, cant believe if I wanna play HALO 3 I gotta get a game I wont like.
I dont think my bro will get it, he might just for the demo then sell it.
I've gone off Halo a way long time ago and I will check out the third game to see if it will get me in the mood again.
Halo 3 better be worth it buying Crackdown

Sony does this crap too. I think with metal gear or Final fantasy demos included if you buy certain games. or was it a devil may cry demo? I cant remember. even with nintendo and the wind waker, they were offering the 2 N64 games as pack-ins for the gamecube. Why all this Crackdown hate? seriously if the game is going to be bad, then make it 39.99 + the halo beta. this game better not be 59.99.

The invites are only going with the initial shipments of the game from what I read on either Joystiq or 360Fanboy.
I personally liked the Crackdown demo. Thought it was better than Saints Row thats for sure.
Bet this game will be number one in sales the week it comes out just for the Halo invite, probably also the number one game sold back as well. Wonder what Gamestops policy is going to be on buy backs for this?

Love the demo. Hate it when you finally get some sort of ability and the 30 min timer pops up. I'll be buying Crackdown, beta or no beta.
