Here is the deal my PSP sat unplayed for some months and I try to use it again and everything seems well, d-pad works. If I start a game (off memory card AND off UMD) and iI try and click home it takes me to the are you sure you want to quit screen and the d-pad WILL NOT do anything like highlight yes.

When I try to play emulators and I go to select the game and push down it wors like turbo and doesn't go down just one it games real far and fast.

When I tried to edit my connection settings and tried to edit and the phone pad thing comes up it acts as if turbo is going and the buttons are being pushed.

I originally though it may be some corrupt data on my card but I think it may be hardware related. Should I take apart the PSP and see or.......? Any suggestions?

It could be dust build-up under the D-pad, you may need to open it up and clean it. Google some tuts on how to clean the PSP d-pad, it should fix the problem.

ok that didn't work.

I tried Resident Evil DC on psp and all seems well until it's time for char select then it keeps switching between id's. This problem does not exist when navigating the browser.

Try a different game, is it a problem with the game you dumped?

ok I tried somthing new with my psp. I took out the memory card just in case something was messing it up.

I went to edit the name of my network setting.
It has the phone keypad looking screen and the numbers
it appears as if "select" is what is freaking out. the numbers/letters constantly change from ABC2 to ABCA'2 fast. kind of like if shift is pressed on the PC.
