Ninjamod is evil... They've Stolen GCOS
The only way to find out is to test.. buy a spindle of -R and +R and burn the same game.. whichever plays best, is best. Then just use the other discs for other things.

DVD+R's do work well, as for being better than DVD-R, I couldn't really see a difference with my drive. Maybe it depends on laser setting.

According to me it doesn't depend on the media being + or - but it's about the dye that's on the disc that defines the quality.

i agree 100% with you FE.. My games only run on a certain dye.. the brightest purple not the dull purple.

before I used Ridata Ritek G04's and had dres all over the place, then I tried memorex 8x +R G04's and haven't had a dre since. They work great for me:)
Whether or not +R's will work well on your cube depends on if your burner is good at burning them. Same goes with -R's.
Edit: Also, +R is the better standard. They are much higher quality. This isn't something I'm offering up for debate; it's actually a proven fact.

whilst +r are technically a better standard, both types of dvdr do not have 100% compatibility, and it seems the cube prefers dvd-rs in general. So whilst you dont want a debate, if dvd-r works and dvd+r doesnt, its kindof irrelevant which one looks better in media tests :P
id take not og what gulliver said though, g04 media does appear to work perfectly on almost every cube ever, but some batches of g04 (especially 3rd party/budget ones) are shifty as hell. If you are not sure, id suggest ridata, as i have never had a bad ridata disk ever.

people really need to read before posting on this forum.
Now that that's out of the way. My riteks are not 3rd party, they're ridata branded (nice of you to assume though)
And +R's generally work better on the GC, I really don't know where you get your information but it's not from this forum.
Ritek is not going to work for everyone. What's important is if your burner happens to like that media. I never suggested that people shouldn't try them. But people definitely shouldn't follow them as if they were a religion as you do.
For the last time, it's not just media, it's the compatibility between your burner and your media.
Please read threads before you post garbage that isn't true. It really helps the community quite a bit.

i agree with G on this one, but i cant run any dvd+r's and my dvd burner doesnt support them aswell, mini office depots is what i run on an old LG burner.

memorex dvd+r 8x burned at 4x work great for me!
I burne them using a nec 3520 burner.
The office depot dvd-r gave me alot of dre.
My gamecube laser is not tweeked either.
Edit: the direct boot option doesnt work for me on the new cobra bios.
But, the disc swap works when I start the gamecube up with an original disc in the drive.
