This guide assumes you have OE-B.

Download the USB-ISO Pack for Mac
http://www.telefonica.net/web2/xiuxweb/USB-ISO_Pack_for_Mac_by_XiuX.zip

Download UMD Dax Dumper Beta 02 Full Install
http://rapidshare.com/files/6077633/daxdumper.zip

Unzip USB-ISO_Pack_for_Mac_by_XiuX.zip and daxdumper.zip to your Desktop.

Go to the USB-ISO Pack folder on your Desktop (USB-ISO_Pack_for_Mac_by_Xiux) and install the libusb.pkg.

Go inside daxdumper folder on your Desktop and unzip umddaxdumper02.zip

Connect your PSP via USB and copy the __SCE__umddaxdumper and %__SCE__umddaxdumper folders from the /PSP/GAME/ folder on your Desktop to the /PSP/GAME/ folder of your PSP.

Go back to daxdumper folder on your Desktop, unrar usbhostfs_bin.rar. Go inside the usbhostfs_bin and copy all contents of usbhostfs_psp folder to the umddaxdumper folder inside /PSP/GAME/ in your PSP. Eject your PSP.

Go to the usbhostfs_MAC_macterm folder in the USB-ISO Pack folder on your Desktop (USB-ISO_Pack_for_Mac_by_Xiux) and copy the usbhostfs_MAC binary to /Users/yourusername directory (Home directory). Creat a folder named ISO in /Users/yourusername directory (Home directory)

Open Terminal and type "./usbhostfs_MAC -vv /Users/yourusername". Keep Terminal open as program is running.

Start your PSP and insert the game you want to dump. Start the UMD Dax Dumper program from the memory stick.
Once program boots up, change the "Dump to" option from ms0:/ISO to usbhostfs0:/ISO. Leave other options as is. Press start to dump. Your iso will be inside /Users/yourusername/ISO folder.

Enjoy

I have followed these steps exactly and cannot get it to work, I can use the dumper fine to the memcard. But using usb Dax format just sits there forever doing nothing, ISO format says error writing file every time. In my terminal after loading usbhostfs_MAC it shows Root 0: /Users/omi, it never shows a progress or anything like that. Any other tips on getting it working?

Try changing the format to ISO. That's what I use. Make sure you have an ISO folder in your home directory. Are you using 3.02 OE-B?

That's strange. I went through the steps to make sure I didn't miss anything and still works. I don't know what could be.

i just dumped MGS PO no probs with this method. im running 3.03 OE-C. very useful. Think it would be possible for someone to build a GUI version, for the people who are scared to use Terminal, or just dont want to waste time. Any way, awesome work man, any help for the mac users is always good

easier way to dump on OS X!
only tested on 3.03 OE-C.

get umddaxdumper .2 and expand it,
put the "__SCE__umddaxdumper" and "%__SCE__umddaxdumper" on your PSP/GAME150 folder on your PSP

then put the contents of usbhostfs_psp into the "__SCE__umddaxdumper" folder on your PSP
eject your PSP

dl PrometeusPro (donate for this awesome app!)
install it and all necessary components
then start PrometeusPro
Select USB Tab.
Push Open button, select a folder (You don't have make an ISO Folder!)
Push Start

Start umddaxdumper on PSP.
Select USB:/ISO
Select file form (iso, dax, gzip)
Push Start button

That's all!

the terminal method works as well, but I find this easier, and im sure other mac users will find it easy also.

Happy Ripping!

I am having problems dumping any of my games, sometimes the disc doesn't spin at all and freezes, other times it gives me the red error message right away, and other times it will start to dump but then fail partway through...the most I have gotten is halfway through a game.

I am running 3.10 OE-A, using the terminal method on OS X 10.4.8.

read the post above yours. it explains perfectly how to do it without terminal.

although i have not tested it on 3.10 OE, it might work.

tested only on 3.03 OE-C

Did you read my post? I said I am using terminal, and the UMD disc doesn't even start spinning...

yes i did read your post. and i understood it completely. i was just suggesting to use the PrometeusPro method, because i have used both methods, and I find it easier and faster this way. sorry if it does not help

The problem I am having is it doesn't even get to the point where I can dump...even to the memory stick (well, I have successfully dumped my games finally, but it seems it works when it wants to work, not when I want it to work :P)

I have had no problems using umddaxdumper and it is a great tool. Now I am using 3.71 M33-3 and I have not installed the 1.50 kernel add-on. For this reason I cannot use umddaxdumper to dump discs.

My problem is the following: I cannot use the "UMD Disc" option under "USB device" in the M33 VHS menu to dump discs to my iBook. The iBook with Mac OS X (10.4.11) does not recognize the file system and nothing is mounted. If I use a LiveCD of Ubuntu to run linux on my iBook there is no problem dumping discs in this way.

Does anyone else have the same problem with dumping discs using a computer running Mac OS X?

I've been having the same problem. I just want some help with knowing how I should go about and do this. All the programs I have downloaded just simply crash, or never start up. Also, is there a way to delete unwanted files from the .iso before compressing to minimize its footprint?
