Features that I plan to add to the next version:
* Rip games directly from the cd.
* Multi Language support.
* Advanced theme color mode. Enables you to change the color of every picture used in the theme.

Please donate to support future development. Donate link. (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_xclick&business=KingSquitter%40gmail%2ecom&item_name=PSX2PSP_1.4&no_shipping=1&no_note=1&tax=0&currency_code=USD&lc=SE&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&charset=UTF%2d8)

For those who might want to translate PSX2PSP to their own language you can use this (http://www.squitterdev.com/fileShare/files/psx2psp - text.txt) file. Remember to keep the line order the same. You can send the translated file via PM or attach it to a post. I'll include it once the language stuff is done.

PSX2PSP v.1.4.2 info:
* Bugfix, iso.ccd and iso.cue files where not deleted after extracting iso.

PSX2PSP v.1.4.1 info:
* Fixed bug that made single disc games not work.

PSX2PSP v.1.4 info:
* Added some more multi disc stuff and changed how multi disc games are selected.
* Added support to change multi disc games. So now you can modify pictures and even add isos to already converted pbp files.
* Added multi disc support to batch mode. The program will search from these file names: " cd","-cd"," disc","-disc"," cd ","-cd "," disc ","-disc ". So if you got "test cd1.img" and "test cd2.img", they will get converted into the same PBP file.
* Added support for extracting isos from multi disc PBP files.
* All PBP files, even multi disc, support CDDA.
* ZLib should now be compiled into the popstation.dll file.

PSX2PSP v.1.3 info:
* Added support for 80x80 icons.
* Added support for multi disc games.
* Added some new colors to the default theme.

PSX2PSP v.1.2 info:
* Fixed bugs in popstation.dll.
* Added effects to customized icons. Check theme pic below.

I've attached pics.zip. It contains Theme_white.psd and cIcon0.psd.
I've also attached Theme_editor.zip. It contains a simple theme editor and src for the theme editor. (When using the theme editor, save often and take backup of layout.ini)

Src might be released some time in the future.

Customized images by others:
Auto Generate Pack by SiTWulf. Link (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?p=432895)

v.1.1 info:
* Added batch mode. Check pic below.
* Added command line support. Info below.
* Added a new Customized image for icon0.
* Fixed "The application failed to initialze properly (0xc0150002)" bug.

To start batch mode run "Batch mode.lnk". (Only available after PSX2PSP.exe have been started at least once)
When converting in batch mode, all .iso, .bin, .img and .pbp files will be converted. The program will check in every subfolder for theese files.

Command line:
PSX2PSP.exe /theme Opens program in theme mode.
PSX2PSP.exe /clasic Opens program in clasic mode.
PSX2PSP.exe /batch Opens program in batch mode.

The icon pack contains 1400 icons and is about 150MB.

v.1.0 info:
* Source code have been rewritten from scratch.
* Added theme support. (Check pic below)
* Using popstrip and popstation in one DLL file so converting files is much faster ;).
* Program can create custom images. Check Default Icon0 profile for a example.

* Can save toc to both .cue and .cdd when extracting iso from pbp.
* Can use any type of pictures (.jpg,.bmp...) for icon0, pic0, pic1 and boot.
* Converting PBP files in one pass. (Can even PAL fix already converted PBP files)
* And some other stuff...

Place base.pbp in files folder. If you are using 3.03 OE-B or below, you will also need keys.bin in the files folder.

Theme mode: (Icon0 in below image was automatically generated by the program. The pic was also automatically resized to fit the screen. Pic from: http://www.ps2vicio.com/imagenes1/PS2/final_fantasy_advent_children//Final_Fantasy_VII_Advent_Children_20.jpg)

Old change log:
v.0.2 info:
* Fixed some bugs and added error reporting.
* Possible to also add ICON1.PMF and SND0.AT3 files.
* Modify PBP files that have already been converted by popstation.

It is only possible to modify PBP files from popstation that have not been changed by any other program. If the file have been changed, images will look ok but save info will be wrong.

v.0.3 info:
* Changed the way the program changes title and save ID. Hopefully it fixes the problems some people are having.
* Added some more tags to saveID.

v.0.4 info:
* Added option to extract ISO file from already converted PBP files.
* Fixed some bugs.

v.0.5 info:
* New name.
* Handles already converted PBP files better. It is now possible to change title, game id and all other info in allready converted PBP files.
* Preview option.
* Extracts save ID from ISO file.
* Gets game title from DB.
* Separate game title and save title. Multidisk games can have different game titles but with one save title.
* Shows what region the game is from.

When changing stuff in a already converted PBP file all images have to be added again.

v.0.5.1
* All save ID's should now be detected.

v.0.6
* Fixed bug that made memory stick led flash to much.
* Added PAL 2 NTSC fix. (Based on info from CoNsOlEmOdDeR, thanx)
* PBP files can now be Previewed.
* Dont have to re-add all pictures when editing PBP files.
* PBP files are now 100% editable. All info in them, except the iso, can be changed.
* Can automatically add pictures based on Game id. Add pictures in Pics folder. (Check readme for some more info)
* Can use bigger pictures and sound files, in bytes, then files converted with only popstation.exe.

v.0.6.1
* Fixed a bug with PAL 2 NTSC. If you used to big pictures/sound it did not always find code to patch.
* Added Abort to both Extract ISO and Convert PBP.

Should Save ID be the same as the Gametitle or the slus# and if so, is it just the number or the whole "SLUS94467" format?

The codes can be SCUSxxxxx or SLUSxxxxx [AFAIK for NTSC games]. Being the perfectionist, is it possible to choose between the 2? :p

Besides that, I'll be using it. A lot eaiser than going through with command prompt. :)

Great tools
works like a charm..
Would be great to have the possibility to choose SCUS/SLUS/SCES/SLES for us Europeans since US and EU 5 digits are not used for the same game.
Thanks again...

I can add that tomorrow. I'm thinking of also adding ICON1.PMF and AND0.AT3 support.

Have to get some sleep now, up to work in less then 4 hours.

Actually, it would be cool if this had a set of png files already in the system, based off of what is on this thread:

http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=40802

But great work, thanks!

A couple of quick questions:
1) Can I leave any of the lines blank so that it will default to the hotshots icon?
2) Does anyone notice this running slower then Popstation alone? Castlevania has taken me 8 minutes already and its still not 10th of the way done.

This one looks promising, but everytime I try to convert, it says "Invalid filename" btw, my iso is a .bin format. and for the SAve ID can I just put any 5 digits?

Alucard77
12-27-2006, 01:39 AM
rename you bin to iso.

kiiroi

It still says "Invalid filename" ....this is very strange...for the Save ID I just put "12345"

ATM, for me it is being really really slow. I have been encoding Castlevania for a little over 16 minutes now, and the eboot is only at 130mb of 555mb iso.

I am within multiple directories (5 directories down to be exact), so I wonder if that is what is causing it.

Anyone else having this?

ProjectNemesis
12-27-2006, 01:53 AM
does this work only with iso files? or is it possible to use other formats, my PSX games are in .img cause Alcohol 120 is the only app i could get to work right and make workable images.

kiiroi
12-27-2006, 01:54 AM
nvm, i found out my solution :) works great!

but does the SAVE ID actually work? like does it save in separate files?

Alucard77

I think you can just rename your file from img to iso. give it a shot, but I am not positive if it works or not like that.

How long did your encode take. What was your file size for the game?

What are the specs on your PC? Castlevania still going on mine. 26+ minutes now.

Took me less than 5 mins, the game is pretty small (137mb), it was just a test for this GUI. My comp specs are: 1GB of RAM and 3.0ghz...that's the important specs isn't it...?

ProjectNemesis

renaming the img to iso just corrupted the file. hopefully the creator of this app can make it compatible with different kinds of disk image files.

EDIT: now does this need the KEYS.bin file?? in the same directory as the eboot??

when putting the game into your PSP, make a folder named "SCUSxxxxx" (x = digits) and put your converted EBOOT and key.bin in the folder. You'll always have to do this or else your game will get corrupted.

Yes this seems to take a lot longer that Popstation. I've been going on 10 minutes now with FFVII, whereas it took maybe 2 or 3 minutes using Popstation. No idea how much longer to go, either...

Good so I am not the only crazy one. I think it writes a bit of code at a time for this. I guess it takes 1 hour + per game. I wonder if there could be a quicker way.

You can tell what % you are complete, if you go into the files folder. There you will see a eboot.pbp. Just look at the size, you can see what mb the size is. Compare that to the tmp.iso and you will see how much is left to go.

Doesn't tell me anything. The file in the file folder is 712MB, and the eboot is 712mb, and it's still going..

Sucky thing is I don't know if it will work since the game I ripped from my original is a .img file.

Yeah this is crazy. Half an hour now and still going strong. I think this is going to take MUCH longer than an hour for a 700MB eboot. Compared to 2 minutes with Popstation, I think I'll stick to Popstation and Hexediting.

Thanks, though, for the effort!

Alucard77
12-27-2006, 02:52 AM
yeah, this rights one block at a time, looking for where to hexedit and so on, I think. What this program should do is first do the regular popstation, then analyze the file then hexedit it.

I don't know if this is at all possible to do, it maybe, but I am not sure. I am letting this run over night since I am going to bed now. But I may try that hexedit thing. It is nice that it lets you do the icons though.

Hopefully the original creator can fix that! I think it's an excellent program (if it works), aside from this implementation of block-writing.

In a perfect world, the creator has made a new version by the time I wake up. :D

Its slow cause he probably reads the whole file to hex edit. He better open it on the hard drive and read write to with a fileopen command direct.

As I have not seen the code, I can't say exactly whats wrong, but if you are experiencing the issue with the GUI taking forever (10+ mins), try the following.

1. Start the process using Popstation GUI and as soon as the initial copy is complete and the "Coverting file to PBP..." process has begin continue with step 2.
2. Right click the task bar and choose "Task Manager"
3. Right click "Popstation.exe" and select "Above Normal" under the "Set Priority" sub-menu.
4. When prompted to confirm the change in priority class click "Yes"
5. (OPTIONAL, SEE NOTE 2) Change the priority of "Popstation GUI.exe" to "Low".

NOTE: The GUI has something in the code that consumes all the available CPU cycles, and DA's exe hardly gets anything done, so until the code is fixed, this will have to be done each time (each time you click "Convert" in the GUI). Those with multiple cores or hyper threading might not suffer as much from this bug. (KingSquitter, you have either HT or dual CPU/cores don't you?)

NOTE2: You can change the priority of the GUI to be lower, but because the GUI launches DA's exe at the same level each time you start the process you don't get much benefit besides an overall less sluggish system and you have to change then two processes priority settings. If you change the priority of the GUI, you still need to change the priority of DA's exe EVERY TIME you start a new process.

NOTE3: (Windows NT/2000 or greater and this may require admin rights on the local machine... i'm always in the Domain Admins group so I forget what "normal users" can and can't do)

Jrm is right, I was about to post about how you guys must've been doing something wrong, because I just converted 3 ~700mb ISOs in about 5 minutes each top, but I have a dual core processor.

Anyway, where can I find the SLUS***** code for each game? Does it have to be exactly that number or can it be whatever number I want it to be? For the three ISOs I converted I just put 00001, 00002 and 00003 respectively, and placed them within a folder named after the game and all worked perfectly, so I'm assuming that the name of the folder and the actual ID you give them doesn't matter.

Or to make it easier for yourself.. name it whatever you want to. It doesn't affect how the game acts.

ie. 'Gran Turismo' does a good job of indicating where Gran Turismo is.

Maybe it would be cool to add all the psone database inside in order to make an automatic renamer. By simply giving the correct name it would give you the correct game number or let you choose the number if they are more than one region number.

I have a P4 1.5 Ghz, 512Mb SDRAM, 5 years and 3 month old computer. I converted Suikoden with this popstation GUI in around 5 to 6 min. Thanks Kingsquitter for taking all of the work out for us! :)

I had the same problems as others have had in the beginning though. I started a conversion, went to bed for 5 hours, woke up and it was still running.

For me it was one little simple problem. In the directions Mr. Kingsquitter gave us: Place all the normal popstation files (BASE.PBP, KEYS.BIN and popstation.exe) in the "files" folder before use.. He failed to mention 1 little file that also needs to be moved to the "files" folder. It is the "cygwin1.dll" driver. I am kidding Kingsquitter in the way I am presenting my solution. :p I am very grateful for his hard work and him losing sleep before work too. I hope this helps someone else before they spend hours waiting for their Eboot to be finished. I am also assuming that Kingsquitter is a male, if not my apologies. :o

so if i'm playing FF9, and it contains 4 discs...
it doesn't matter what title i put for those for files, as long as i give them the same save id, i will have no problem continuing the game from one disc to another? or will it still work even if the save id is different? coz that is probably the one way i think save id will be useful. the game plays fine even when I don't put inside a folder called scuxxxxx (something like that).. instead i just put psx_ff9_cd1.

Thanks for this great tool ! works amazing well !

Just one question, what is the unknow.png ? Is it the transparent image ?

Oh and also, no matter what digits I put, if it is 00000 for all 4 CD of a game it's all OK isn't it ?

Thanks again !

PS : IMG files works great.

Try to name it like "SCUSXXXX" te one ou put.

when putting the game into your PSP, make a folder named "SCUSxxxxx" (x = digits) and put your converted EBOOT and key.bin in the folder. You'll always have to do this or else your game will get corrupted.

Hmm, I converted FF7 earlier using this and didn't have a problem. Took the same amount of time as with just the popstation.exe

And I'm only running an Athlon64 3400+ with 1GB of ram.
No dual core or anything fancy like that.
Are you running on Vista?

I've found the scheduler a lot better a managing processor hogs than XP.

Yes this can. Just search for your Pic1, Pic0(unknown.png), and icon0 .png pictures and place them in the correct spaces.

Edit: Sorry, I read it wrong. You cannot change the images of an existing EBOOT. To do that, you'll have to use PSPBrew, PBP Unpacker, or any other PBP tools. This tool is to make custom PSX EBOOTS so it can run on your PSP.

It takes a while because the program probably hex edits the EBOOT.PBP, which can vary in size, and is very large (up to 700 mb). Instead of doing this, you could just hex edit the BASE.PBP to change the SCUS ID and not use this program until it is changed to be faster.

unknown.png is that clear peice on the right that tells you a bit about the game.

I didn't get on at all with this program, so instead I still have to hex edit popstation.exe, but before converting I open base.pbp in pspbrew and change all the icons with that.

Not sure if Kingsquitter will read this but whatever...

The reason the app takes so long is PROBABLY because it's reading the entire PBP into RAM in one go. This forces everything else that's running to go into swap, which is like RAM but uses the hard disk...

Not sure if this is what you're doing, but a better solution is to use a 16Mb or so buffer in a loop... read into your (limited size) buffer, do whatever you need, write straight back to the output file, and then free your buffer on each tick. This is slightly less processor efficient if you've got unlimited RAM, but I think it would improve performance for most people in this case...

Maybe my base.pbp is corrupted, ill try another time later.

I then re-ripped my FF7 disc 1 and then used it with v0.2 of this GUI and my savegame doesn't exist anymore despite having put in the correct 94163. I put back my Hex-edited Disc 1 and my save is magically there again.

Basically, the hex-editing portion of this GUI isn't working properly.

This is happening with me also

The program seems to be editing just one part of the save game ID. According to a post i read earlier there are two Hex strings that need to be edited:

Looks like it depends on the game. On some it works, on others it doesn't.

hi guys i got an problem with that tool.

I wanna convert Breath of Fire 4

So i hav an bin image of that game in PAL, i converted it to NTSC, after that i start the gui, place the bin and the pic and icon files for BOF4 from the Thread here on Maxconsole, (do the pic and icon file should have the name pic1 and icon0.png????), changed the SCUS to SLES03552 (like the original game has) so the .pbp was generated, load in psp and after the first screen went back to xmb wig 0x08......error.....????

If im convert the same bin file under cmd with popstation.exe the .pbp loads fine without a problem.

Hope someone can help becuase the gui is great with all the feat. in it.....

anyone having problems with the save game id and title name and all, try hexing the popstation.exe first to change the SCUS/SLUC/ETC. to whatever number you like and change the title to what you like. Then in the gui put the exact same SCUS number for save id and title for game title. I did this on my first try and it converted it pretty fast and now my save game says "GAME NAME". heres the thread to hex your popstation. Third post here.

u can try it, convert any psx game, and put any name in the game title. When the conversion is over, open the new eboot.pbp with a hexeditor and search for the string Hot Shots. It will find one..and that is supposed to be changed to the name that u gave before the conversion..i know u can change it by hexediting...but thats not the point of the program itself :p

I noticed that the SLPS, SLPM, PBPX, SLED, SCED, and SCPS tags are missing from this program (just checked the ps1 gamesfile and noticed these ones).

Could you include these in the next version?

still doesn't change the save name i typed in SCUS00005 and the save folder is still SCUS94476 and still showing the hot shots text, the icon changed fine for the save and the icon, pic and game title changed fine for the eboot....you just need to work on the savegame edit....for now it looks like we still have to manually hex SCUS94476 with our choice of 5 digits

This function works fine for me.
Are you typing SCUS00005 into the box? or just 00005?
You only need to type the number part, ie. 00005. Maybe thats your problem.

If not, I have no idea why its not working for you, but it works fine for me.

That person asking if I was running Vista, no, I'm running XP.
Have converted FF7 about 4 times now, and Chrono Cross once with this program, works perfectly for me. Good job KingSquitter

There is only one thing thats annoying me, and this isn't a problem with this program but rather the way the PSP saves PS1 games... I already had a save for FF7 and don't want to start again, my save is listed as Hot Shots Golf 2 in the PSP menu. I changed the name of the game in this program and re-converted it, then deleted my save game to test it works and the new save created had the name Final Fantasy VII, so it works fine. But when I placed my old save back, loaded it up and saved over it, the name wouldn't change from Hot Shots Golf2. So now my save is stuck with that crappy name, and I'm a bit of a perfectionist so its pissing me off :D But not enough to start again as I'm already up to the shinra building.

It works for me too, but only if the save is created new.
If you create a Resident Evil 3 save with an unedited eboot that is still called Hot Shots Golf 2, then the save with say hot shots.
Then if you re-convert the game with the correct name and save with that, the save will still say hot shots.
But if you delete that save completely and then save fresh, the new save will say Resident Evil 3.

Then, i load the game, save it right at the beginning, i quit the game, it will say hot shots golf 2. i delete it, reload the game again and this times, it will name it correctly??

When i convert my psx game manual via popstation.exe my MemoryStick LED doesn't flash during game all the time (also when i put new icons into the popstation folder). But when i convert it via this tool and put new icons on the game, the MS LED flashes all the time during the game. Why? This is really annoying.

This used to happen also when i changed the icons with pspbrew. The MS LED doesn't stop to flash, except i press the home button or pause the game.

edit - to clarify the above...the app itself doesn't have the character limit in the gui but it is the cause. after conversion in the xmb under the game menu the title (i don't use icon0 or pic1) is only 18 characters and doesn't display the whole title if longer than 18 characters. under the save menu it does appear to have the full name. thanks.

edit - to clarify the above...the app itself doesn't have the character limit in the gui but it is the cause. after conversion in the xmb under the game menu the title (i don't use icon0 or pic1) is only 18 characters and doesn't display the whole title if longer than 18 characters. under the save menu it does appear to have the full name. thanks.

Yeah I tried with hex editing, its seems to be a limit that Sony set for display purposes.

The name that this app edits in the PBP can not be any longer than the original game name assigned to the PBP ("Hot Shots Golf 2" with a copyright sign). This is because popstation.exe uses the Hot Shots Golf 2 PBP as a base to compile the new games.

Use the same save ID on both. They can use different titles, but the save file is going to be named after the first cd.

hmmm does tis mean that disc 2 3 and 4 must use the same ID with disc 1? and i saw there was alot of ID in the psx database name

SLUS01251;;[U];SLUS-01251;;;;PS1;Final Fantasy IX [Disc1of4]
SLUS01295;;[U];SLUS-01295;;;;PS1;Final Fantasy IX [Disc2of4]
SLUS01296;;[U];SLUS-01296;;;;PS1;Final Fantasy IX [Disc3of4]
SLUS01297;;[U];SLUS-01297;;;;PS1;Final Fantasy IX [Disc4of4]

all of them have the different ID...if we follow tis ID all will the save file be ok when swaping disc? or we must follow the ID of the 1st cd??

The save follows the ID. You cannot use a different ID on every disc.

Suggestion for v.0.5: In addition to the .iso and .pbp formats, add the .bin format to the list of files we can choose from. I know it works if I manually enter the path to the .bin file, but it'd be a lot more convenient if we can just choose it from the menu.

Thanks for a great GUI.

I have a question. I made a final fantasy 7 eboot with one of hte first popstation guis. i changed the scus id and everything, but when i check the saved game data for ff7 on my psp it shows the ff7 icon but it says "Hot Shots golf 2"

Now if i were to make an eboot of disc 2 with the same scus id and all through this gui will i have any saving issues because the title of the 1st save file says "hot shots golf 2" and not final fantasy7? sorry if i'm being hard to understand. cant realy find an easy way to phrase this.

I have EXACTLY the same problem, I'm so glad it's not just me. I managed to skip the intro by pressing start quickly, and played into the game a little way, but then it froze at the next cutscene again.

Can anyone suggest any way to make it work?

Thanks in advance, and thanks to KingSquitter for the awesome GUI! Call it PopIt! :)

It will work fine, as long as the save id is the same, thats all that matters.
However, the existing save thats called "hot shots golf 2" won't get renamed when you save on disc 2.
Thats the problem that annoys me :( It isn't a problem though, i'm just a neat freak.

Probably the game is not yet compatible. Or it is compatible, but has a bug right now, just like the Vigilante 8.

Everytime I try and convert a file I get an error about writing header and the filesize of all my icons/pics are too big, but no matter what size they are I still get the error message. Even with no icons selected it still says too big.

King, to make the Save ID Combobox not editable,
add the following line

Style = csOwnerDrawFixed

After object saveID_l: TComboBox in your TFORM1

Suggestion: output the PBP in a subfolder generated from the Save ID.
Later,
