I think this has already been covered, and also shows that emulation speed reduces quite dramatically if you use this method.

All my PAL games (which I have tested) run about 75% slower when I convert them to NTSC using this method.
Games tested:
Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot 2
Crash Bandicoot 3
Metal Gear Solid
Tekken 2
Tekken 3
Gran Turismo
All made with Alcohol 120%, with data type set to Playstation and saved as .CCD - then use the IMG file to convert to EBOOT.PBP. All run slowly.

i dont see the need for the "paltontsc" program or whatever it is. zapper does the pal to ntsc conversion as well as changing the y settings.

Cheers for this, will definetely come in handy, I won't have to search the net for old NTSC PS1 iso's. :)

I didn't notice any slowing down when using Zapper2k. Plus, it works on Eboots as well.

I noticed the Zapper2k program performed the conversion too...Any chance of posting up what those umm....Y-number (?) should be to fix pal screen positions?
I know my PAL metal gear could do with being somewhat higher on the screen, thats the only problem it has...But I havent a clue what to change the numbers to!

Works great, screen is perfectly centered. About the slowdown in games. I tested the slowdown of VRally 97. First converted the pal game without any fix. Game plays very slow, in fact unplayable and some graphic glitches. After converting, no graphic glitches but slowdown stays the same. Although i only tested 1 game i think the slowdown has nothing to do with the fixing of the screen. So thanx to ciauz for the tutorial and the progs :)

sometimes make problems using only zap.....is better to patch the backup twice.....
For the slowmotion of certain games i don't know why have bad framerate (all crash and mgs work fine in my psp.....)
Are u using a pal disc?

Using any of the conversion utils, every time I scan it'll go all the way through then say nothing to patch...
I ripped gt2 fine, got it working on the psp but it needs its screen position moving and none of the utils seem to find the relevent files, img, bin or iso... anyone else have this prob??

Alcohol, saved a ccd, popped and played on psp... screen out of pos.
Any attempted conversion at the ccd point to the img and the files could not be found. If ripped with cd-r win and convert to iso, still not picked up in the conversion utils...

You have to use bin and cue and I think only goldenhawk cdrwin supports it fully. BTW I used this guide and transfered legend (PAL) to fit perfectly and it removed some graphical glitches, thanks tons for this guide everyone involved. :D

yeah you only need zapper2k by itself. I found that with ff7 pal uk it causes some graphical glitches tho

Any other string? I can find the one or the another one in pretty much every game (but not every game works after conversion), but I can't find any string for changing screen res in Gran turismo 2 PAL.
Please help :)

I was using nero, CloneCD to rip by backups of Colin Mcrae 2 PAL version.
Then went through the instructions here. However the screen was always way out of position, basically the bottom half of the screen was cutting off.
Anyway, i read here that using Alcohol 120% seems to rip a little differently. So i obtained :D a copy and then ripped my CD PAL version with that, the image when finshed was about 2 mb smaller.......
I then went through the instructions with the patch etc, and hey presto....
perfectly working PAL version of CM2. I would try and get yourselves a copy of Alcohol 120 to rip and give it a try, it may not work, but did for me!!

is it alright to run the screen fix on a unpatched NTSC iso? I'm playing Lunar II: Eternal Blue.. and there is a big black bar at the top of the screen. Its weird because normally it would be top and bottom, but this game only has it at the top..

Actually that i believe was a common problem with lunar even in epsxe.. iirc even "normal" psx play!

Exactly the issue i'm having. It's doing my head in cos I love this game. Can dump it and run as PAL but half the screen has dropped off the bottom. Zapper and the other tools don't find a SEQ num. Has anyone managed to convert GT2 from PAL to NTSC and have the correct screen layout???

Try paladin V1.0, it takes a while to run, but does a decent enough job. You might need zapper after to make fine adjustments

Thanks i will give it a go!! In the end i managed to 'obtain' a NTSC copy and it works great.
I was thinking though isnt there a PAL version of Hot Shots 2? If so cant we use the eboot and keys file from that? Im sure people would be doing it already!!!
One more quick thought if there isnt a PAL version of Hot Shots 2 couldnt we convert HS2 to PAL and then try converting the PAL PS1 games to PSP??
