WHAT needs

- PAL TO NTSC CONVERTER http://www.psprl.it/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_details&gid=301
- zapper 2000 V5.64 (use google)

HOW USE THEM
- make iso of your pal game
- open pal4u2k.exe in the archive of Pal to ntsc converter
- Select Pal to Ntsc and clic on "find seqs"
- you will obtain a file that ends with *.p4u
- open p4upatch.exe in the archive and apply patch to ypur iso with the file *.p4u just created

- The graphic now is fixed

-open zapper4k.exe in the archive zapper 2000 V5.64 (use google)
- Select Pal To Ntsc and select your iso just patched
- you will obtain a file patch *.zap .save it
- now patch the iso l (apply Zap)
now you have converted iso pal in ntsc!!!!

all of these are included in the following attachment, if it makes it easier

I also found that i do get a few graphical glitches from ff7 after using zapper 2k,
and that its not nessecary to use pal4u2k first,
zapper2k works the same on its own.

Ok, now I know that you need pal4u for the graphics and zapper for the screen adjustment! I did not know the programs made two different work! Thanks

I tried converting to NTSC with Crash Bandicoot and Crash Bandicoot 2.
The screen seemed fixed with CB2, however the frame rate was very very slow - and was nowhere near full emulation speed. CB seemed fine too, however it got stuck on the PS logo every time.

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the ISOs, the converters or the emulator. Any help greatly appreciated as all of my games are PAL!

propably looking on the packaging or the disc will help :-)
you could of course also try to identify the sony-code of the game and then guess which TV-standard it uses ;-)

Yeh seems to be a problem with converting to NTSC for me.
I have played the following three PAL games - Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2 and Metal Gear Solid. All of them worked perfectly, at 100% speed and everything. There were no noticeable graphic glitches. However, the screen was obviously not aligned correctly - the bottom of the screen is cut off a bit.

When I have converted all the above to NTSC and rebuilt the EBOOTs, emulation speed seems to be very very slow for me (I'd say around 20% it's normal speed). Is anybody else having this problem?

I have just used Zapper on all, and applied the patches.

this may be because many games are modified when using the 60hz pal signal instead of the 50hz signal of ntsc.

pal sends 60 pictures a second, so the game has to produce 10 more pictures per second.
if you now play the game with displaying only 50 pictures a second, it may be that you notice a DRASTICAL speed change (slowdown).

same if you play a NTSC game on a PAL machine you may notice a drastical speedup.

more modern games can cope with this situation, same a moder modchips for consoles. but i doubt sony has implemented anything to prevent such glitches in the emulator yet, as the PS3 is up to now only released in "NTSC-Countries".

maybe this is one of the reasons for the PS3 being delayed in all PAL countries?
who knows. we will maybe see another release of the emulator and new psp firmware when the european PS3's arrive :-)
but not necessarily, as the downloadable games could be NTSC games for the whole world.... because the PSP makes no difference.

anyways is would be nice to find a relyable method to convert PAL->NTSC or having the emulator run with PAL patches, because that way the PAL-PS1-Game-Owners wont be forced into illegaly downloading games which they legally own.

(notice here that if you use torrent or other p2p software, you are not only downloading but also uploading content. thus this is illegal, even if you own the original game! [because you give the game to others at the same time]).

(also notice that making an iso of your own game is not illegal in most countries if you do not break any effective copy protection, which is not present on ps1 discs. same for copying the ntsc version of a pal game you own from someone else... but not via p2p, see above).

I was using nero, CloneCD to rip by backups of Colin Mcrae 2 PAL version.

However the screen was always way out of position, basically the bottom half of the screen was cutting off.

Anyway, i read here that using Alcohol 120% seems to rip a little differently. So i obtained :D a copy and then ripped my CD PAL version with that, the image when finshed was about 2 mb smaller.......

I then went through the instructions with the patch etc, and hey presto....

perfectly working PAL version of CM2. I would try and get yourselves a copy of Alcohol 120 to rip and give it a try, it may not work, but did for me!!

NTSC use 60Hz as standard , PAL 50Hz ;)

i had a few problems with alcohol 120% and nero. but now im using ISOproducer that comes with autopopstaion4.all the games ive ripped seem to work alrite.Ive done FF 1,2,4,5 and 6,tony hawk's 1, dune 2000, command and conquer.

the settings for isoproducer are:
interface:W2K/XP - IOCTL scsi commands
read mode:BE_2 (ATAPI SPEC 2)
subchannel reading:read subchannels

Once you've converted it, what next?

Do you change the game id to conform with US NTSC or just leave it be?

you really don't have to do this anymore.. there've been lots of pal optimizations made by sony. I've finished a pal ff7 for example without any conversion or whatever and it played just fine!
The gameID is completely irrelevant, only if a game requires a certain gamecode you should use it like ff8. But that has nothing to do with the difference between pal and ntsc. Most games work with any gamecode just fine.

I'm playing FF7 and when I get the lunar harp and I'm about to go into the forest it still works but when The first fight occurs the ground of the fight gets weird there are like black sqaures so I run but when a second fight occurs It just stops working you can hear how the sound continues but not like it should it's like 1 long tone. I play this on my PSP (customfirmware) so I have to convert my ISO FF7 to EBOOT FF7. could it have to do something with the application that I use to convert to eboot??? whats the best ISO to EBOOT converter???
hope you can help me I really need this...

thnx

FF VII work perfect on 3.71. Follow this guide to set up popsloader.

http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=87901&highlight=popstation

Not create iso but .bin/.cue image. I recommend you to use Alchool 120%.

Use PSX2PSP v1.3 - Popstation GUI to convert it in eboot.pbp

do not downgrade, use popsloader to load 3.71 pops while staying in 3.9m33
read the stickied popsloader tutorial and don't discuss downloaded games

Hey guys. I have a PAL playstation 1 and I downloaded this converter hoping that it would also convert NTSC to PAL so i can burn my iso ps1 images

this program works great. for the aussies or whoever else uses PAL this program converts perfectly. been having terrible luck getting anything to work until i noticed that all my images are NTSC format, but this converts them instantly

Then i just used nero to burn off the cds and everything is working fine.

if you could also advertise that this converter is also NTSC - PAL then i'm guessing it would help out alot of people.

cheers for the kick-ass program!
