Hi all, Seasons Grettings to all!
Quick question, i am very paranoid about flashing my PSP, and with all due respect to DAX (a wonderful, wonderful guy) i'm wary about using his custom firmware, purely because i couldnt afford a replacement PSP if i fudged up my own, so please dont start telling me how wonderful custom firmware is, i know.;)
So my question is can non-Sony store PSX game images be run in DH 3.XX firmware using the Popcorn hack method? I don't see why not, and may have a go at it later.
Before anyone points out that i flashed my PSP with the latest DH, i did'nt, and got round it by doing a memory stick only install-i assume this cannot be done with the Custom Firware through Devhook at this time?
Thanks for putting up with my probably stupid questions-have a good break all!
TIA.

your best bet for now is to flash 3.02oe-b.Devhook cant load psx games for now(and i doubt if it could)

Right, fair enough then, i might take the plunge later on tonight. Thanks for the quick reply katsika, any idea what the success rate is please-when the original 2.00 downgrader came out (which was the last time i flashed anything) people were bricking PSP's left right and center!

Look, downlaod the files for 3.02oe-a and oe-b from here(i mean maxconsole forums). Then read the instructions very carefuly enough times(and asuming that you know english). Then the chances of bricking your psp are 0!!
look,i ve never heard of someone bricking his psp when he was installing 3.02oe-a(well i found one but the guy shutted off the psp at the time of the setup, biggest mistake). If you dont believe me search maxconsole forums or psp-hacks or qj.net for someone who bricked his psp....

To be honest, I was wary of upgrading as my paranoid minset would always see the worst happening. However, if you follow the instructions to the letter, then I don't see any problems.
Basically from knowing virtually zero about custom firmware, I looked on the net, found a reliable source to download the files from and found a good guide, read all the feedback and decided the risk was minimal and the rewards were great.
It really is worth it and once you upgrade from 1.50 you'll wonder why you ever held back. I've upgraded from 1.50 to 2.71SE-C back down to 1.50 and then to 3.02OE-A/B.
However, if you feel its not for you and don't want to risk it, which is fair enough, then you'll just to have to wait for maybe Devhook to come through and allow you to play PS1 games in the future.

Make the plunge, man. I've installed 2.71 SE on 7 PSP's (obviously not all mine..helped some friends out) and upgraded half of them to 3.02SE-B already. This included upgrading them to 2.71, downgrading to 1.5, upgrading to 2.71SE, etc. etc... Lots of flashing.
Never had a single problem. DA makes it almost impossible to screw up, as it doesn't even allow you to run it if you don't have at least 75% battery, and it checks the MD5 (or whatever he uses) of the files before even flashing...
Unless you do something ridiculous, like shut your PSP off while it's flashing, there isn't any risk.
