Please PM me about the new 3.03 popstation, what games are fixed and which ones are not working anymore, please do this instead of posting in this thread!

Correct me if im wrong but the games which you can save then load CD2 are only Final Fantasy Games (7,8,9) and Metal Gear Solid and also Xenogears none of the other uses this method.

Works = Perfect Speed and Sound

Some games aren't optimized for the Popstation and the screen might show black lines and stuff.

When sony updates the firmware to play more ps1 games, they acctualy updates the emulator to work better with more "homemade" games.


If you have reported a game working and later play it and you discover that it freezes or it shuts down, please report to me by sending me a pm!

Read the readme.

"Note2: The program is compiled using cygwin. Therefore, cygwin dll's are required if you don't have them

You need to execute popstation from the command line. Go to Start -> Run -> cmd (or command) -> cd <your popstation directory> -> popstation isoname.iso(or .bin, or .img)

They boot up, but that's as far as I've gotten since I'm busy ripping right now.
The bizarre thing is that I've been dragging these games in their original boxes around with me ever since I bought them.
Currently I'm ripping FF VIII, Lunar 2 (another rare title), and Thousand Arms, but they are all multi-disk games so I have no idea how that will turn out.
Dammit, I lost my copies of FF VII and Jumping Flash 1 & 2! To the internets, Robin!

why don't u just do as it says in the readme ?

- Execute popstation.exe from the command line. You have to pass one parameter, which is the filename
of the iso. e.g:

> popstation castlevania.iso

so u would do
popstation metalgearsolid.bin

Do you have popstation.exe in the Jordan folder or is there a folder called popstation there. If there's a folder named popstation you have to type cd popstation and then do popstation metalgearsolid.bin

Try removing all spaces in filenames. Never the greatest idea when running command line programs.

Just realised you are doing it wrong as well.

If your game is MGS.iso then you need to type this at the command prompt:

popstation MGS.iso

Xenogears works fine for me. Played 10 minutes into the game and no problems so far. Ripped from an original NTSC-USA disc.

Though, unlike the Final Fantasy games you can't save the game prior to the disc change so I imagine that will probably become a problem. I don't fancy playing for 50 hours to find out though.

What would be a good idea, if someone can come with a save-game converter so we can by-pass potential problems with multi-disc games by using PC emulators or a PS1 to save the game and copy it back to the PSP. For the time being, I'm going to enjoy this fantastic emulator.

The reason why the EBOOT is bigger than the backup is because the EBOOT has the game manual (if you press the HOME button)

I ripped this with Tekken 2, the manual is still there, maybe there is a way to ripp the manual out of the EBOOT. :confused:

Ok,converted resident evil dc pal with alcohol 120% to img format(magic iso sucks)and works at full speed!Only problem is the image as it is below the centre of the screen and chriss's head which has wierd graphics(but i guess this is because its pal version).

popstation.exe complained that the images were too big, so I reduced the color on both images down to 64 colors. Works fine then. (in photoshop go to Image > mode > indexed color to reduce/increase colors)

that's because you pressed home, there is a small glitch in some game scenes (like in mgs intro) after pressing home and comming back the game slows down for a few minutes. Just avoid to press home in those game scenes.

Although, even in normal screen mode there are small black bars on top and bottom. The only other game I've tried, FFVII, does the same thing, but these are bigger in Chrono Cross. Doesn't matter though, still perfect :D

Games for the Playstation emulator should go into the "GAME" folder, not the "GAME150" folder.

Tekken 3 works but you need to keep pressing start to skip the intro and you cannot leave it on the title screen to long or it will go into the demo mode thingy and you will get black screen and it wont work.

i just tested for now Dino Crisis 2 NTSC version, and its works fine at full speed, sound and music...hell ya :D..time to kill those muthersuckas dinos on my portable..yehhaaa :D:p..ill test more games...:rolleyes:

But I've got a problem, I'm french so I've got a lot of PAL games but there're a bug with them so I want to convert them in NTSC but with pal4u2K.exe and p4upatch.exe I lost the quart of the sreen.

So I seach a good log for convert my PAL games to NTSC.


Dark alex mentioned somewhere that even if you convert them to ntsc they will have still problem,so one option for now(untill the emu can play pal versions) is to download the ntsc versions for our favourite games.I am downloading right now ff7,in spite of owing the original pal game

SAVED GAMES:

I saved Crash Bandicoot Warped! and Tomba! and I was able to go into both games and load both saves, so the saves don't overwrite, although there is only one Hot Shots Golf 2 save. I'm guessing the save acts like a memory card and you can save different blocks in it? Someone with more knowledge than I should figure out exactly how it works so we don't acidentally overwrite saves.

if the game has an audio track next to the data track that holds all the background musics for the game, the psx emu cannot load/play them, thats why u dont hear any music while u play. This is a common problem with other games too (like Twisted Metal 3/4, Vigilante 8:2nd Offense and may more games). i remember when i had my old PSOne console and i used a boot disc to load these games, i had no background music..on my ps2 with modchip, i have the music. I hope it will be fixed with version C of 3.02 OE :D

First of all there is a file called readme.If you cant understand how the command prompt works do this:

Copy the popstation folder in C(with all the necessary files,more info in the popstation readme):

Then open Start-run-cmd-ok and type:
cd.. [enter]
cd.. [enter]
cd popstation [enter]
popstation "isoname".iso [enter] (without the "of course)

tony hawks pro skater 2 works but with mayor graphical issues (NTSC), most in-game textures load some seconds later than they are supposed to so you pretty much see the whole map black.

any idea what could be wrong, the IMG file I created from my orig
Cvania ntsc ran fine on epsxe on pc..

Go into recovery mode and try different kernal options, and try the game, game150, and game320.

Just a note for final fantasy viii and ix pal users. The games (if dumped from originals) will not load unless they are patched (available if you google).This was the case on a chipped psone or on pc psx emus, so i would assume the same applies here.

They were copy protected as was crash bash pal and a few others

After hearing such a great news, I went on to rip two games that I wanted to play mostly on PSP, but only one works for now.

Super Robot Taisen Alpha (NTSC-J) - Emulation won't start. Stuck on the PS logo, then turns itself off.

Super Robot Taisen Alpha Gaiden (NTSC-J) - Works like charm! All the music, voices intact.

...I might try other ripping method with Alpha, because I just used the one I got from somewhere else, and it was .ccd form, so I don't know if .bin/.cue will make much difference, but for now, it's a no go. :(
