Modding tuts

I have noticed that it takes quite abit of searching sometimes to find a tut on a good gc mod. I figured Id make a thread so that everyone can post all of their kewl modding tuts so they are in one easy to find location. Here are some tuts that I found:

Specific mods Im looking for if someone could find them are how to add LEDs to light up the controller ports and memory card ports, adding LEDs behind a clear jewel, and replacing stock fan with an LED fan or how to add LEDs behind it. yep, i took the pics for some more tutorials (jewel cut and lighting, controller ports and the dosts above the controller ports lighting(
also making repair lid sensor (or viper GC pass throught cables), CCFL lighting, painting...looking into fan replacement as i did locate a fan that is the same size but faster but still contacting manufactors about Led 50mm fans.

Method 2 of Controller port Led mod now online.....

when ever i get time....they are pretty time consuming. However i did get 1 version of my controller port led mod done and its now on the web site. The jewel mods will be sometime soon as i have 3 to do this week.

hey hey, got the time to finish a jewel lighting tutorial over at my site. Got 3 more tutorials started lets see if i can stick to my 1 as week plan.....

Duey2k = Could you give me some more info on the Wavebird/reciever LED mod. What size LEDs did you need? Got some internal shots?

Also, I don't have a triwing at the moment so how do you recommend I open the components?

sure, if no triwing (can get them for like $7 shipped) you can also use a small flat head screwdriver. Currentally i dotn have any shots but il be making the tutorial next week as its a pretty simple one.

for leds you will need 2 surface mount leds and then its just basically a replace job. Just tkes time since the leds are sooo small. also you might not want to use a soldering iron over 15-watt as it will melt the leds. I have to do 4 for a custmer later next week so thats when ill take the pics.

and they have all the specs youll need

i prefer blue...im a blue freak. all colors look good on the plat... also white looks killer.

Thanks - Ironically, I was going to go for white myself as my Crystal Xbox has white LEDs :D

Just checked out my supplier, he can only get the 805s (I'm in the UK) which are slightly bigger (and dimmer) than the 603s - would there be a problem fitting these due to their size difference or do they drop right in?

nope both will fit, if i may ask whats a good UK supplier for leds. as im in the US but id love to have some answers for UK modders.

http://ultraleds.co.uk is the place for me - nice range, decent on postage charges and very quick delivery. The only thing thats really lacking here is his selection of SMTs...

most places arent really all that good on stocking SMT leds, try looking on ebay(or other phone sites) for cell phone leds. they are the uaually same thing just there not usually posted as surface mount leds....

Also, if you've got any/can get hold of some 0603s in purple please let me know.

Can't seem to get any at a decent price in the UK and all non-UK suppliers want huge orders.
