Yesterday I installed 3.02-OE and everything works great except PS1 games. Games are visable in XMB, but when I start one some sony warning screen appears and after that the screen goes black. No error message is givven and my PSP's memorystick led keeps blinking. I've waited for like 10 minutes but nothing happens. The home button doesn't work after that and a hard reboot is needed.
Any hints to what it is i'm doing wrong.

do you have many prx files loaded from the seplugins directory?

No extra prx's are loaded. I'm using a clean 3.02 OE installation (updated from clean 1.50). I've formatted my memorystick and restored default system settings. Never got any BSOD or other problems.

Try taking out the memory stick... reboot... switch off... memory stick back in reboot... if that fails try resetting defaults.

Thanks for your help. But your suggestions didn't work.
have u place the right files? pbp+key.bin
Files for tekken 2 for example are in PSP\GAME\tekken 2\
The files i put there are DOCUMENT.DAT, EBOOT.PBP and KEYS.BIN
I've made similar folders for the other games.
All games give me black screens.
Are there any settings in XMB or the recovery menu which are important for PS1 games?

Yes which folders do you use for homebrew?if you have put homebrew folder from the recovery to 150kernel you should put the folder tekken inside GAME302

Disable all the plugins in Recovery. it might help.
in my exp, all PSone games should place under /psp/game/, no matter 1.5kernel or 3.02kernel selected.

I've set my homebrew dir to 150kernel and put the games in PSP\GAME302\
Now when I run a game after the sony warnings screen my PSP gives the error message "The game could not be started. (80010002)".

THE SOLUTION

Never did anything with opening_plugins.prx and never used x-flash.
To make sure this isn't a problem I made a seplugins folder and put a empy game.txt and vsh.txt there. Didn't make any difference.

I'm pretty sure it has to be in the GAME folder but I could be wrong.
Try renaming to tekken2, without any spaces.

To Solve your problem:
1. Rename "tekken 2" to "SLUS00213" and move it to the GAME folder.
2. Hold your Power Switch up until your PSP is turned off.
3. Go into Recovery Mode ---> Configuration ---> Game Folder homebrew should be set to 3.02 Kernal
With those settings, I've been able to Play the golf game, Crash Bandicoot and Tekken 2

Kernel mode has no effect. I use 1.5.
Folder name has no effect, although I'm not sure if spaces are allowed.

My GAME folder is set to 1.5 and this is my folder name for Tekken 2
\PSP\GAME\Tekken 2 - PSX - SLUS00213
and it works just fine.
Only other thing is to go back to 1.5 and re-install, and as soon as OE is back in try a PSX game without doing or touching anything and put the game in your GAME folder.

Just formatted my original 1GB memorystick and renamed my tekken 2 folder to SLUS00213. Didn't work.
Maybe it doesn't work because my PSP is European?
I used US 1.50 and US 3.02 to generate DATA.DXAR.
Has it been confirmed that US PS1 for PSP games work on European PSP's?

I was thinking about a re-install. But I thought there was something stupid I did wrong. So I started this thread. If I can't get it to work today, I'll reinstall 3.02-OE tomorrow.

Re-installed 302-OEA and updated to 302-OEB. Still getting black screens on all games. So I generated FF7 cd1 with popstation. Doesn't work either.
The problem can't be my 302-OE installation. How long does it normaly take to load a PS1 for PSP game?

Games do appear to do something. A new folder _NEW_00000000000149717984 was generated in my savedata folder. It only contains icon0.png.

maybe (or not), he need to put the right/full name of the game , ex: with initial letters in CAP MODE......maybe
GAME\Tekken 2
oh yes, forgot to say, works simple like that here

I'm having the same problem with 2 games that I've ripped and popped - black screen etc. I read through the popstation readme and it says that we should be using the files from Hot Shots Golf and not Tekken. The readme says other games might work, but that the compressor is expecting Hot Shots Golf. I'm going to try those same iso's with those files and see if i get a different result.

Nope, just tried Final Fantasy 9 disc 1 again with the Hot Shots Golf stuff - still just a black screen.

the problem is the software you use to create the isos. use alcohol
Drewdah

Yep, thats the solution. I was using MagicISO to create my rips and for some reason that doesn't fly. I downloaded UltraISO and it works like a charm.

I had the same problem. When I created ISOs with MagicISO I only got black screen. Then created bin/cue with MagicISO and worked with BIN instead ISO and everything worked fine.
And about that document.dat file, it's not needed. It's the cover of Hot Shots and manual. The thing you get when you choose manual from menu. If you don't have it it'll simply say that manual is not available for that game.

This is very strange. I've let my PSP run for more than 30mins (while screen was black and memstick led blinking) and Hot Shots Golf 2 actualy started. Then i tried to set the screen mode to normal. My PSP crashed and was shut down automaticaly.
edit: Retried to change screen mode and it works. But loading times of 30 mins can't be normal.

Tried 5 different games and FF7 via popstation. They can't all have a bad keys.bin. Every game works now, but it always takes 30 minutes to load.

Hi guys. I also got Problems like that running PSX Games on my (EU) PSP.
I ripped my "WWF Smackdown" PAL Disc with UltraISO and apply the
PAL2NTSC Patch with ZAPPER2K.EXE so i got my fine Image. Then i tried
PSX2PSP_v.0.7.1 & POPSConv BUT I ALWAYS GET THE SAME PROBLEM.
Game Images / Icon / Sound apears, game starts, PlayStation Logo apears
and then NOTHING HAPPEND. I Tried it with 2 Titles (also from other
Releases). Always the same. I tried with 9 and with 0 compression, i tried
the Game Name / ID in /game/ Folder. I tried with 3.03 & 1.5 Kernel.
NOTHING ... Whats wrong?! I cant complain. I download other PSX4PSP
Games and they work fine (made by others). Im at the end with my
knowledge.

I strongly recommend you to use CloneCD or Alcohol 120% create img/ccd, maby there are audio tracks in the game? (Like for me with Brigandine)
(Besides: If you open a psx game with CDR-Win 40C (Extract Files) then you see if there are Audiotracks on your psx game or not:) )
Then use this version of popstation
(Reat this thread!)

Well okay i dont understand much of this popstation thing but until now i use
PSX2PSP v.0.7.1 So i dont have to put in the cmd lines but okay i tried the
"popstation_toc_tinnus" popstation.exe (from your linked thread) and type
popstation.exe Smackdown.img (convert it with UltraISO) and then this appears:
Invalid number of arguments.
Usage: popstation.exce title gamecode compressionlevel file.iso
So if in your linked thread they say "convert to CloneCD Image" in othr
thread they say "Convert to BIN" in other threads they say "Convert to ISO".
What the hell?! I dont understand this. I convert my PSX Disks to ISO
because PSX2PSP v.0.7.1 read that format ... i didnt get it ^^ Also other
forum member use the PSX2PSP without any fixes or so and it works (with
sound etc) ...

You HAVE to use img/ccd files with the popstation cdda, otherwise it dont work!
It is mentioned in that thread, looks like you didnt read it....
I also had problems with ultraiso, so i prefer CDR-Win 4.0C and Alcohol with the Playstation one setting, it's the best in my opinion, iso images have problems with audiotracks, as far as i can remember what people said in the mentioned thread.....
You have no sound, because the audiotracks ARE missing if you use a normal iso and a normal popstation....
THAT is also THE REASON for many crashes of ps1 one games in the emulator,
because THE AUDIO-Tracks are MISSING..................
Once again just take a little time read this tread and you ll understand....

No. I have Audio i can hear MenuMusic and InGame Sounds the only Problem
i have is that the VIDEOS HAVE NO SOUND! Not the Game it self ... and until
now i have no Problem with crashes or so (uses an ISO to convert). Just
the Problem with the Videos. Btw: Like i write before i uses by the
convertation of the ISO the popstation.exe from (popstation-1.23_win32.zip) *New one*!
So far i guess you mean that i should use Alcohol to make an MDS/MDF Image
with the Imageassistent and the PlayStation Settings you can choose. And
then convert that MDS/MDF Image with UltraISO to a CloneCD Image and
then use it with the Popstation.exe from (popstation-1.23_win32.zip) is that right???

i recently downloaded a psx "rom" (gran turismo 2 - simulator disk) and i have an .img file, .cdd file and a .sub file. I used POPstation and get a "cannot start error". i tried burning the contents of the .img file onto a CD and tried ripping an iso and converting that. All i get is a black screen. Do i need the cdd file and sub file on the CD? and where would i put them?
many thanks
(p.s. i've tried loading the img file on a psx emulator and it worked)
