View Full Version : Flash pops.prx from 3.03 to 3.02oe

zshadow had the idea to flash the pops.prx from 3.03 to 3.02 oe to get my recently purchased Medievil from ps3 store. This gam needs firmware 3.03 to run. I was wondering how to flash indivdual files to flash 0? Really want to see if this works. When launching the game it says u need to update. When I change the .sfo, I get past the first screen and then it exits in an error. I have the pops.prx already, just need to Know how to flash it

you can do that with psp filler, recently the 2.0 version was out. A perfect file explorer that can you flash files individuali to flash0. Post the results and tell us if the game works. thanx!

Can you tell me the error code the game gives? That is important.
To flash 3.03 pops.prx, extract the 3.03 with the last psardumper by noobz, with the option of pressing X. And then, how they have told you, use pspfiler, and put it in the flash0:/kn folder.

I can imagine sony making lots of little incremental updates when new ps1 games are release, this technique (if it works) will help us keep up, as well as stop people from bugging Dark_Alex for a 3.09 OE all the time just so they can play xxxxx PS1 game :D

Dark_Alex ya que estas por aqui, puedes decirme si es posible implementar en el 3.02OE la ejecucion de isos UMDVIDEO? desde la 1.50 que no se como ejecutarlas, ya que umdemulator no funciona. Saludos y gracias por tu curro!!
P.D: Only askin if UMDVIDEO ISOS are possible in 3.02OE.

A list of all .px involved in allowing PSone games to boot on 0E-A would be very welcome.
apparently original pops.prx in 0E-A isn't hacked otherwise DAX wouldn't advise to try the updated 3.03 pops.prx without the need to temper with it beforehand.
If any any knows which files are involved, please let me know.
The goal is to be able to run psone games under dh51..

That's an error code of my module idcanager.prx.
The .rif license at ms0:/PSP/LICENSE/ couldn't be found, or the license file is higher than 152 bytes.
idcanager (and the original 3.02 idmanager of sony) finds the license path by looking at data.psp offset of the pbp + 0x560.

Maybe the method of finding the license path looking at data.psp+0x560 is not valid anymore, i cannot tell without actually having the data.psp of the game.

Wll I flashed to 3.02 oe and back to 2.71sec then back to 3.02 oe. I prolly need to download it again through ps3. Im stuck right now with psp filler. I deleted the pops.prx but when I try to copy the new one over, It gets to 63% and says 0 files copied. Im pasting to kn folder. Im downloading medievil again right now.

Obvious. If the keys.bin is not there, my module considers that this is the machine where the game was activated (and which has to have a license at PSP/LICENSE), and therefore it just imitates what the idmanager.prx of sony does, plus the extra of writing the KEYS.BIN at the end.

o~i had changed the registry.prx and rename the registry_302.prx , let it point to F1/registrt to set the CN FONT reg imformations,flash in kn foder

Is the pops.prx from 3.02oe smaller than from 3.03? Maybe a space issue in flash? The one from 3.03 is 1.14mb. Anything I can delete in flash to see if this is the case?

you can delete the camera and update plugins, if you dont use them.
you could also do that "Redirect Gameboot to MS" thing

have you flashed it decrypted?
flash it encrypted with signcheck. decrypred files have a lot higher size.

extract the 3.03 with the last psardumper by noobz, with the option of pressing X,if press square that will Decrypt all,the files more larger than pressing X

Well...... If you really want to free up some space in the flash you can always do this:
Determine exactly which file you determine unnecessary and replace it with a blank .txt file that you have renamed to update_plugin.rco or something
then flash that in... it'll save you however much space the original was..
I GUESS you could also do the same thing with all the font characters you wont be using like Korean, or Japanese..... Someone should make a program that asks you what language you'd like to keep, and resizes all the rest to 0kb. Maybe then we could have kept the location free player.... But whatever, it was a good idea to ditch it, I don't think even 3 people own one of those things.. and the Ps3 is going to be a location free player by march anyway.... so whatever

Dumped encrypted with sig check and flashed ok. Just waiting on my Medievil to download from ps3 store again. DAMN it takes FOREVER!! Will post back in bout 20 min.

Any ways, I went back to 3.02oe and copied the game back over to my ms. The error code all along was 80020148 - PRX type unsupported / Missing PSAR file, even when flashing pops.prx from 3.03 to 3.02oe. Medievil does not work. EDIT++ Even tried flashing popsman.prx. This made the psp freeze with no error

Restore popsman and pops.prx of 3.02, and try to copy mesg_led.prx of 3.03 to /kn, although this one could semi-brick OE. (but won't affect recovery, so no real problem).
EDIT: don't do it. i think kernel modules have another encryption (i didn't have time yet to look at 3.03). that would also explain the problem with popsman which is a kernel module.

flashing just 3.03 pops.prx won't work as I just tried today (it decrypts fine on 3.02 though). The issue most likely is that popsman.prx cannot be decrypted with the 3.02 keys so you cant load that module.

Now that 3.03 has been decrypted maybe you can try to do this process all over again and successfully make ps1 games run that require 3.03
