Moonshell is a media player application for the DS to play mp3 and dpg etc.
That is its job, not to launch .NDS files, Can't you boot .NDS files off your main menu?

Anyway, great update, If one uses the new DPGenc tool with Moonshell15 you will notice there is next to no scan time and the videos dont become garbled anymore.

I just encoded a 1hour 30min video, it will playback awesome, whether i leave it running or even if i keep skipping and scanning. No audio/video sync problems.

To note 700MB down to 166MB, you cant go wrong

I don't see any improvements on the new moonshell version and its dpgtools1.2, the video is blocky as before and the video gets stuttering if converted with fps>16fps :(

Yeah, probably because the linked ver by the post above seems to be 1.5. This thread is 1.51.

After trying this website again, i found another working link (mirror) on it: http://mdxonlinemirror.dyndns.org/moonshell/files/

...now i will try the new 1.51 version and will see if it is much better as v1.5 ;)

EDIT: v1.51+dpgtool1.21 isn't even better as v1.5+dpg1.2 ... the video is still very blocky sometimes and the presets in dpgtools with 20fps are to high so that there are some 'hangs' even with an UltraII microSD card.
The next is the dpgtools preset with a sample rate of 32768Hz which won't work, only 32kHz will work ... i don't know why the have putted this wierd setting in...

NP

Yea, I didn't realise the version difference lol.

Yea videos look like a little blocky when strong tones of colour come through, you could either use a different video encoder like BatchDPG...... or just goto your ds firmware menu and change the brightness down to the lowest setting ;)

Its still noticable but not as bad IMHO

hi guys newbie here (please be gentle) :D

I have installed moonshell on my DS lite (from the link BigGanja posted)and I have a few questions.

-I tried opening some of my jpg files and they are the actual size, is there a way to make it fit to screen (I can only zoom out for about 25%)? Also I notice on the image posted by zeus the topscreen is thumbnails, how do I make this?
-How can I FF and RW when watching a movie?

TIA

I just have encountered the same issue and i would think it's normal ... because the zoom function cannont go below 25% and if you have pictures straight from a digital camera with a huge resolution (4-8MP) ...then is 25% of the size still to big to fit on those small NDS screens with a 256x192px resolution.

-How can I FF and RW when watching a movie?
Simply tap on the touchpad, than you will have a tapable progress bar and to put the video back on top screen, tap on it ;)

Thumbnails are easy to display, simply open the .rar again, then insert your SD/CF card into your card reader, then drag n drop CreateThumbnail.exe onto the card (same dir as your pics) then run it on your PC, it will create a .ini file then ask you to choose a .jpg/.bmp file choose the first one in your dir list this will now output the file _THUMBNL.MSL

You can now get rid of CreateThumbnail.exe off your card, unless of course you plan to use it and update your thumbs regularly.

As for the general size of your pictures, you could keep "Master" copies on your PC and use stretch n skew(MS Paint) or make them smaller using something like Photoshop then copy your re-sized pics onto your DS card.

As tester800 has said you use your touchscreen (Progress bar at bottom for videos and music etc, top/Middle of progress bar you can also set NextSet)

Also just to note:

Y Button = Decrease volume
X Button = Increase volume
Left Trigger = Pause/Play
Right Trigger = Play Next Track/Video. (If NextSet to Shuffle it will be random so long as your inside that dir) if not it wont apply.

Hope that helps ! ;)
