After looking up and down for an easy guide on how to use the mp3prx to play my mp3's from the "ms0:/PSP/MUSIC" folder IN GAME, with no luck, and consequently having to educatedly guess/test how/if it would work, I decided to write this little How-To

Notes: This Module is awesome!!! it even lets you change the CPU Clock speed all the way to 333mhz and go to the 4th brightness level, so its 3 plugins in one!!

Steps:

First of all, this guide is intended for ppl that have 2.71 SE-C. The version of the file used in this guide is intended for 2.71 SE-B'', so all steps indicated here are to use it for the 2.71 SE-C firmware.

Download the joek2100’s mp3prx 0.3b from psp-hacks.com (http://www.psp-hacks.com/download.php?id=914)

Make the folder "seplugins" in the root of your memory stick, and make sure you have mp3 files in the "PSP\MUSIC" folder.

Open the mp3prx_03b.zip file and copy "irsmp3.prx" from "mp3prx_03b\INSTALL" to the "seplugins" folder in your PSP.

Open your favorite text editor (notepad will do) and copy/paste this:

ms0:/seplugins/irsmp3.prx
ms0:/seplugins/
ms0:/seplugins/
ms0:/seplugins/
ms0:/seplugins/

Save this as "game.txt" on the "seplugins" folder in your PSP.

NOTE: If you would like to use the module in the XMB, write this also in "vsh.txt" on the "seplugins" folder.

Do a hard-reset on your psp (when on, slide and hold the On/Off switch for about 5 seconds until it turns off), then turn it on again while holding the Right shoulder button. go to the "Plugins" option, select the "irsmp3.prx [GAME]" ("irsmp3.prx [VSH]" for using it in XMB) option and click X. It should say "(Enabled)". Go back, and then Exit.

Start your game. Wait until it loads and then click note(the Button with a musical icon)+Left shoulder button. Thats it!

You should always read the README's, but if you dont like to or w/e, here's the controls:

(The Note button is to the left of select)
Note + Left Trigger = pause/resume playback
Note + Right Trigger = switch playback mode between random and sequential
Note + D-Pad Left = previous song (only in sequential mode)
Note + D-Pad Right = next song
Note + D-Pad Up = Volume up (for the mp3)
Note + D-Pad Down = Volume Down (for the mp3)
Note + Triangle = Change CPU speed
Note + Square = Toggle On Screen Display (default off)
Note + Circle = Reload list of mp3 files (needed if you change the files in the music folder using usb)
(when READY is displayed in the bottom left hand corner, press Note+ Left Trigger to start playback)
Note + Cross = Change brightness level (from current up to maximum)

You're welcome ;-). It has those files because, like I said on the how-to, the version of the mp3prx is made for 2.71 SE-B'', not SE-C. SE-B'' didn't have the option to load modules from MemoryStick, So u had to write to flash0 (or flash1 - either way, EWW!! -> possible brick) for it to work.

however i tried running gpsp, and the music does not work

I don't know.. I suppose the prx was made only for the XMB and for official games (as in UMD or .ISO). Personally, I haven't tried it on gpSP, If I find a solution I'll post it here.

I see your point. With that way the plugin will load from the ms.Nice tutorial man,i would have flashed this app but now that i can avoid this i ll try it with your way.

*EDIT* Shouldnt we create another file called vsh.txt?

*EDIT2*Works amazingly good.I knew that SE-C can load plugins from the ms but no one had shown us how to do that or i hadnt search enough to find it out.I also installed game overclocking mod with that way because mp3prx doesn't display the cpu's speed.

Thanks for the props. DA is a genious! this is the way to go for custom prx's.

At the time I made the tut. I only tested/used the prx for Games, but you are definitely right. I added a note for it. Thanks for pointing it out!

First of all sorry for telling you that it works because it doesnt work in my 3.02OE-B either.Download the latest version MP3 Module4f which works perfectly as i tested it right now even at xmb(just dont forget to put the mp3s in ms0:\PSP\MUSIC and not in ms0:\MUSIC).The version 0.4d whom i gave you the link is quite old.So download the latest version from here: http://dl.qj.net/2.71-SEB-MP3-module-v0.4f-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/12212/catid/140

I am just about at my limit, I have yet to get any seplugin to work. I feel like I am missing a simple step but what it is I have no idea

I read you can flash it to ramdisk with psp filer, but I have no idea what that means or how to use psp filer, so I am reluctant to go that route

I think 303OEB just doesn't have room in it's flash0 for this plugin, so I went back down to 303OEA and lo and behold and worked perfectly and the very first try

(I went the recovery route btw, 303OEB to 1.50 to 303OEA, this way my flash0 gets formatted and no stray files get stuck there doing nothing but taking up space)
