I've read enough of these forums to know this is an issue, but I'm absolutely lost and need some personalized help taylored for me. Please be gentle.
I've got my Qoob Pro installed successfully. Boots NGC OEM games. Boots Pro OS and OEM OS juuust fine. I'm burning on good media with a good burner and 2x speed with Nero. From what I've read I'm right on par so far. (Heh...Rhymed). Analways.....
When I put in my crisply burned disk (and press nothing on the controler) it Reads the disc, then goes to "..." and then says "unable to read disk."
When I put in my crisply burned disk and hold A to check disc I get, "31 210A Read in Disc Data [1]/[2]" (I've attached a link to a SS below.

I've got a new toy and I'm itching to play. I know this isn't new to lots of you, but it is to me and I'm clueless. Any help is so greatly appreciated!

Try a different Qoob BIOS version. Try 1.1, or 1.3a...
Try GCoS 1.X..
Maybe my memory is failing me, but the size of the ISO you've given seems larger than it should be. If that's true, then there's no way your disc is going to be read.
Also, have you tried a second game, or a second rip? Or are you posting on the boards having just completed a test of a sample of ONE?
Just asking...don't mean to put you down.

I didn't take that as a put down at all. Valid questions.
I don't have a BBA so I simply downloaded the games I have from Torrent sites. Both games downloaded are the same size. I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere they had to be that exact size. Anyways.....they are two different games. I hope that answered your question.
As far as checking different Bios....I haven't tried that. I've seen different Bios and 1.3c looks really nice and I like the functions (but what do I know?). I'll look into trying different Bios, but 1.3c, to my understanding, should work.
Anyone else have any suggestions? Your help really is greatly appreciated!

If you haven't adjusted the laser diode pot, then you need to. Nintendo keeps the pot set as high as possible to keep people from doing just what you are - using backups on DVD-Rs. The laser is getting just enough current to make a beam strong enough to read an aluminum sputtered mini-DVD, but not enough to read a DVD-R. Most folks find that adjusting the pot down to somewhere between 180 to 250 ohms allows DVD-Rs to be used.

I'd a asked this question sooner but your last response Chilly made me have a nose bleed. :) Pot? I'm going to search for a tutorial on Pot adjustment, but incase I don't find one could you post here as well. I'll report how all goes. I read something about adjusting the laser and hoped I wouldn't have to. Sounds complicated and like something that could easily mess up my whole rig. Fingers Crossed.

So I found this tutorial off modthatcube.com
http://modthatcube.pxn-os.com/content/pot.htm
Would you say that's bout how ya do it? I absolutely have to have one of those DMM tools eh? Can messing with my Pot turn my cube into a paper weight? If I mess it up, is there a way to undo my mess up?

K. So I got this multimeter:

I got it set to 190ohms.
I semi put it back together (left the screws out and the top off incase I needed to do any more adjusting) Put a disc in and turned it on and it sits at "Please Wait". I did remember to push down the lid trigger switch so it'd think the lid was closed and still "please wait". Man I hope I didn't do anything wrong. Help!

w00t! I did it! I didn't know the controller pannel needed to touch any censors. It was dangling. Man. That's awesome. Thanks so much guys!
One more thing.
When the game loaded up...it looked like all...rainbowy and staticy then asked me if I want to run in 60ohmz. I said "sure" and it ran find. Is that normal?

That 50Hz vs. 60Hz issue arises when you try to run a PAL title on an NTSC Cube, with a capable TV. Whichever game it is you're running, you've got yourself a PAL version on a NTSC cube. It's not a problem per se, except for that 60hz vs 50hz check screen every time that game boots up.
You work pretty fast...getting doing all the BIOS variations and POT tweaking all in one day.
A word of advice if you haven't fulled sealed the Cube up...you said you set the POT to 190. Try go to 200 and see if your backups still work. If they do, go to 210 and try again. Then 220. Go as high as you can, because the laser will gradually lose intensity over time.
Mine is at 230.

Yea...wasn't to bad. Kinda fun once I started understanding it all. I was following the 170-210 instructions on modthatcube.com's site. Unfortunately I was way to giddy that it worked and sealed it up asap. I'll crank it up in a couple months when I do my routine maintenance of my pot. Good to know, though, that I can kick it up a bit more.
Thanks!

See what happens when I take the night off? :D
That was the same web page I used when I adjusted my pot.
I'm of two minds about adjusting the pot to the highest setting that reads discs: adjusting the pot upwards as much as you can extends to life of the laser; however, as the laser ages, the beam intensity falls, so if it's set for the highest pot reading that still reads discs, you'll be unable to read discs sooner and have to open the GC and readjust the pot lower to read discs again.
Higher setting: longer laser life, but more often readjusting pot.
Lower setting: shorter laser life, but don't have to readjust pot so often.

I figure I'll just keep it where it is. I figure, definitely, before the cube wears out, a decent mod chip'll be out for the Wii. Hopefully before my cube burns out. I'd like to give it a nice setting in the Hall of Nintendo (my closet) with all my other cherished Nintendo devices.
