TVersite media server released a beta patch which enables on the fly transcoding to WMV from formats including DivX and Xvid on the 360.

TVersity Media Server lets you manage your Internet and home media and create your personalized lineup of channels, or as we call it your Personal Entertainment Guide (PEG). It then serves this media to a multitude of networked devices in the home or on the go, overcoming their inherent limitations by doing all the necessary conversions on the fly, and thus making your media available anywhere, anytime and from any device.

Here is an early preview for the on the fly WMV transcoding feature for the 360. Since we have other stuff that needs to make it into the next release and since this is not yet ready we are releasing a patch. Please try it and let us know what you think.

This is sooooo sweet! I'm up and running already. It only took about 5 minutes and I'm streaming Ministry of Sound radio to my 360. :D :D :D :D :D I'm only running a 2700+ and the video works fine on the default settings. I just wish the rss video feeds would run as well.

So why should i use this program when i´ve already got transcoder360?

cause transcode360 requires MCE.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/download.tversity.com/Xbox360Patch_0_9_8_4.zip

extract to the install dir of tversity overwriting the existing files.
Then go back to command line and type 'net start tversitymediaserver'
once it has started turn on your xbox.

Select Computer
Follow on screen instruction. ignore the part about downloading an update on your pc and click yes.

It's great that I find out about this hours into my Monday at work. It's too bad that a third party fix had to be used, so long after the 360 was released.

This is good news, but when they get XBMC working on the 360 I'll be a happy camper.

I tried the above patch and can see all the files on my 360, but whenever I try and play a video file it will not work.
Can anyone help?

In due time...I suspect a full Mod Chip in less then a year for the 360, and with that comes a lot of anxious homebrew coders. :D And a good thing is that the 360's codes aren't as complex as previously assumed, which was discovered by the BK Games (Go figure) and them using the same data files as the Xbox, yet it still uses the XEX and makes the games better looking on the 360.

What happens when you try try to play one of your videos? Try to play the streaming radio. If you can do that everything is ready to go.

i REALLY hope so. with an XBMC360 and some decent emulators, that baby will be mine. it even should have enough power to run a dreamcast and a saturn emulator. :D

Technically the Xbox was powerful enough to do those 2 consoles, there was a DC Emu but it just didn't play smoothly, that's not the Xbox's power, it's just the team that was doing it's inability to get it running perfectly. As for the Saturn, well the DC was more powerful then the Saturn, I guess no one tried to make a Saturn Emu, which sucks cause I really want Night Into Dreams in Emu mode. Oh! And the original Panzer Dragoon.

Though, since it has full 3D capabilities inside for Xbox Acade, it could be running PS2 and possibly GC games by the time the 3'rd Xbox comes out. But before then we'd see a very smooth N64 and PSX Emulator on it, along with possible xbe's running on it to port all your old Emus and Apps to the 360.

Oh, and one more thing, Check your PM box ya douche.

When I try to play the streaming radio files there is no audio - the bar moves but nothing and at the side where it shows the station there is a red cirle with a line through.

Anyone else having this problem?

Also when I try the video files it will do one of the following:
1) display file not supported message
2) nothing happens when play clicked (not even a message)
3) on one occasion my box froze

ah, just checked my PM. i was about to do what you asked me for, in fact i thought about it quite some time before you PMed me, since you made the impression of a reasonable person for quite some time, but i guess i was wrong with that. try keeping down on all that swearing and unpoliteness and your wish will be granted. ya douche. ;)

the emulation thing is not as easy as you think. the dreamcast and the saturn are consoles that are quite hard to emulate. there is one quite good ps1 emulator out there for the xbox1, but since the ps2 and gc emulators on pc are far away from emulating most games at playable speed it will be years until we see those ones on a 360.

i hope too, that we will see those great emulators ported to the 360.

Welp, some of us live in the US, and actually have the right to say whatever the fukc we want (Typo and Swear word used for you only). I won't stop swearing, because I do not swear very often and when I do it's none of your concern. So I am asking you again, nicely. I don't want to have to go to the Admins to get you to take it off. :( Because that's childish, but then again you keeping it on there for your own ammusemnt is just as.

I would uninstall it all and don't run anything until you have the patch installed. Make sure you upgrade to WMP11. Make sure you have room on your HD for the transcoding. I moved the program to an almost empty partition. Don't try to play anything but your videos because their video/rss feeds wont work. Oh yeah, check the firewall access for the program. I hope you get it worked out man.

Thanks for all the help, unfortunatly still not working after re-install. Nevermind guess I'll have to stick with media center which is a pity as it's slower to load into initially.
