Ok, I've finished the "simple mod" version. Still working on the advanced version. So I'll tell you the gist of it. Basically, It's a remote controlled gamecube! So here's a short tut on the simple mod.

Get a remote control outlet (This is basically a device you plug into and outlet, plug the device into it, and when you hit on on the remote, It turns on the device). You wire the remote into the wavebird (this is very hard and depends on the size of the remote. I had to cut out the insides of my wavebird to make room) Then you plug the gamecube into the socket. When you press the button on the wavebird, the system comes on as long as the power button is depressed. I'll post pics once I'm done along with the parts I've used. The advanced mod I'm working on is basically another on button. The remote outlet is inside the gamecube and wired so that both the button and wavebird turn it on. If the button is depressed, the wavebird won't do anything because they are alternate circuits. So thats about it. Please give me feedback!

Ok, I HAD to bump this thread because I thought I HAD to share this info with you. I threw out my old plans for a remote control because I found EXACTLY what I was looking for.
http://www.electronickits.com/kit/complete/elec/ck1617.htm
Ok, Thats EXACTLY what you need. To install it, we'll start with the controller. Because I haven't done this yet. Still awaiting the funds :( . You take apart the remote and find some way to wire it into your wavebird. I think it'll fit if you dremel out the center above the battery pack. I recommend wiring the buttons to radioshack buttons and drilling holes for them on the top of the controller. This has 2 buttons, 1 will be PWR, 1 will be reset. Once you have the controller wired, open up your cube. Remove the power assembly and take off the board. Examine the board and find out which point is positive and which is negative from the inverter on the power cable. Solder a wire to the + and one to -. Then solder those to the board where it says 12v + and -. Next, choose which will be power button and which will be reset. For the power button, set the jumper for latch, and put two wires in the connectors, one in NO and C. then attach those to the two points under the power board where the switch is. It doesn't matter which goes to which. Then, for the reset, set the jumper to momentary. Then, put 2 wires just as the power is, on NO and C. Then solder those to pin 1 and 4 on the reset switch. They're labeled on the board. You can play with the LED's and wire those as you wish. I do not know if the board will fit in the cube, for I have not done this yet. I plan on making a plexi case that's larger for mods and full size dvd's. If someone does this, I REALLY WANNA SEE THEIR PICS. Please read the manuals on the site for you have to teach the board of each remote button. May I also make another recommendation. Put the led's up where the power led is so you can see the little plastic thing light up when you hit a button. Please write back with your finished project.

This has been done with the xbox already. What you could do that's damn nice like I did is buy a remote power on/off adapter at walmart for less than 18 dollars. You plug the gc into, then the adapter into the wall. IT will turn on the xbox or gc from outside the house even since it's RF .

Rig the power so it's on 24/7 and then plug your GC into the clapper.. :D

Yeah but if you live in a loud house like myself with portuguese in-laws the damn Gc would be going off and on every 2 seconds. :p

Lol. I actually have a clapper somewhere. I bought it for the hell of it. I plugged my fan or something into it. And the Idea about the RF plug, if you read up, that WAS my original idea. I still have my gamecube hooked up to that but I wanted and internal solution. I just thought this was perfect cuz it was internal, had a power and reset switch, and since its internal and works parallel to each switch, If the remote dies, the power button works the same. I do like the external idea a bit but I'm the kinda person that wants it to look pretty much stock when plugged in. If you can understand my point of view.

you have the problem with people who make loud noises.. imagine your at the end of a really long game, you havent saved it in a while, you almost beat the boss, the boss roars or does something loud, and *dink*off goes the cube! i think you can exclude clappers.. we had one for our lamp, it was annoying, whenever you spoke it turned on and off..

lol. Yeah, I had one hooked into into my TV about 3 years ago so that if my mom came upstairs, I didn't need to fumble with the remote to turn it off in time. Turns out, I had to clap really loud for it to turn off, but during quiet shows, it'd randomly go off from little noises. It really needs to be perfected. Now they need something that you inject into your veins and put your forefinger and thumb together and the device turns off.

Look at the bright side.. GC is only like 60 bucks now so it wasn't a very big loss at all. I fried several xbox's when they first came out.. and a couple ps2's as well. It's the price you pay when you play in the modding game.

Actually, I got 2 GC's myself for testing reasons.

sell it on ebay - you should get some bucks there. At least for the laser unit (if itīs still working). Then add a few bucks and you are set ;)

Not a bad idea. Once im in my house, ill start pawning my stuff online because i got a bunch of junk needed to get rid of. Hey, if this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42003&item=6738927307&rd=1) guy got away with selling junk, I sure as hell can selling somewhat usefull stuff. I have a big 20 gallon box of broken cd players i collect from friends i could sell. I pawned the parts and actually made 5 working ones. So you can see, I could make that money easy.
