View Full Version : Cops Hunt Xbox 360 Hijack Gang
Cops in the UK are on the look out for a group of theives who stole £500,000 worth of Xbox 360's early on Monday morning.
The 46-year-old trucker was then attacked and his vehicle, owned by distribution firm Hellman Worldwide Logistics, was stolen. It was carrying a shipment of a new WWE: Smackdown vs Raw 2007 Xbox 360 bundle which is due to launch tomorrow, according to Amazon.
The driver was later treated in hospital for superficial injuries. The emptied trailer was discovered abandoned on the A38 near Sutton Coldfield the same day.

dumb in my opinion. each xbox has a unique serial number. MS has these as it knows which ones were being shipped. as soon as someone with the stolen xbox goes online, serial no logged and the ip. find out address from ISP provider - go knocking on their house. findout where they got it from....etc etc. Can be done and i am guessing will be done. So in conclusion, don't nick anything that goes online!

They don't even bother to do anything about the people playing copied games on xbox live so I doubt they will bother about a bunch of nicked consoles.

thats cos games arent consoles, they are doing something about it, hence the police action. plus losing consoles is a loss to microsoft, not a software house

This has nothing to do with the consoles themselves going missing. This was an armed robbery where someones life was obviously threatened in the process of stealing the truck. Even if MS were to say " well..we let people play copies on xbox live, so I think we might aswell let the truck full of stolen xbox's go aswell" (which will obviously never happen), the police are obligated to go after them

RMF you misread the post, of course the cops have to go after the robbers. I was talking about what wuld happen if you bought one of the consoles. Someone said you could trace it as it connects to the net, but they won't do a thing if you buy one in reality.

that would most likely be against the law as it seriously violates your privacy.
