View Full Version : Xbox Owners Ready to Upgrade

A new poll reveals that Xbox owners are most keen to upgrade to the next generation within a year, followed by the GC and PS2 (over 10% less than Xbox owners). Of course the Xbox and GC has been relatively 'dead' up until now, with the PS2 having a strong set of games to keep it revitalized during the holiday season.

It's possible the reason Xbox and GameCube owners are looking to upgrade more quickly is because their systems have been, for all intents and purposes, "dead" for a while now. In the meantime, the PS2 is still going strong, with several AAA titles ready to carry it through this holiday season.

Yeah, if you call ports and the like making it "revitalized", same thing happened with the PSX. Last game to come out for the PS2 that actually means anything is God of War 2.

As for the GC and Xbox being dead, basicly, At least for the GC. The Xbox is doing just about the same thing that the PS2 is doing, and that's getting ports and games that were delayed but promised on the current gen consoles. Aside from the upgrading, the rest of the article is biased.

That's a matter opinion. ;) Since that was a launch title for Xbox, and it continued to sell, it obviously couldn't have just been the only game.

Actually, the Xbox isn't produced anymore because it made 3 to 1 PS2 and Gamecube. ;) By the time that the 360 came out, there were still a ton of Xboxes left, as you can see if you go to Walmart or Gamestop. Then again, I'm sure you'll just make some smart ass comment about how they never sold any so therefore there were naturally some left. 20 Million Xboxes sold says otherwise. And that wasn't even the final count. And as Sony has claimed for generations it seems, games make a console, not hardware. So seeing that Sony doesn't make games for the PS2 anymore, that makes it dead, right? According to Sony it does. And if that doesn't make it dead, and games coming to it is what makes it alive, then the Xbox still must be alive because it still has games coming out for it too. Seriously, stop being so double minded.

thats the one thing that bothers me about ms, as soon as the 360 release got close the games for xbox just stopped, so will the same happen in the next generation with the 360? the console will be dead as soon as the better one is about to come out? there are still some good ps2 games coming out Rogue Galaxy for instance. the PS2 support hasn't died, in fact isn't God of War 2 coming out for PS2 and thats made by sony. i don't like sony, but at least they are still putting some effort into releasing games on ps2.

the same games that are comin out on the xbox are coming out on the PS2, where is sims pets on the xbox? no release, where is PES6?

The PS2 has recieved many high profile games this year, Final fantasy 12, Okami, godhand and a bunch of other decent exclusive games and still has games being announced for it. nothing but multiformat games have come out on the xbox. Your way off target.

The PS2 is still outselling every other console apart from the DS, in the US there was 235,000 PS2 sold to 3,500 xbox last month and the cube outsold the xbox 10 to 1!

October 2006

NDS 360k
PS2 235k
360 218k
GBA 169k
PSP 130k
NGC 32k
Xbox 3.5k

"WTF are you bitches babbling about?"

Sim Pets is a PC game, if you play it on a console...you are deemed a loser. :p As for PES6, it's on the 360...why would you want it on the Xbox when you have Fifa 07 on the Xbox? And for the ignorant, PES6 has shitty online play compaired to Fifa 07 on even the Xbox.

Good for the PS2...but what do you expect when the PS2 is the only thing that's going to be going strong with Sony in 2006 and 2 quarters of 2007? Sony knew that the PS3 was going to bomb for at least half a year so they made sure to keep exclusives on the PS2 instead of making them a PS3 game like Microsoft did with Kameo with the 360.

Bottom line, start reading my posts ya pud, I've admited the Xbox is dead, has been for awhile now, but it's still got games coming out for it, correct? So it is not completely dead, it didn't pull a DC with it having sold more then any other companies' first console. ;) Which is the whole point of my post. Sony Fanboys and their missunderstandings.

I though the Xbox was still outselling the 360 about half a year ago? You know because of the shortages? I think that they are ready to upgrade because they have the new MS console to buy. If you ask a Sony fan if they are ready to upgrade but there is no syste (PS3) to upgrade to then of course they would say no. I think that this is more about brand loyalty than anything. If the Xbox is dead or alive in your mind then so be it. There are a number of games (http://xbox.ign.com/index/release.html) slated for the Xbox so I guess it's up to the developers when the Xbox will truly die.
