Exploit: Bert and Ernie Reloaded w/ Phoenix Loader

Everything is working great on the original drive but I'm trying to upgrade the HD to a Maxtor 120GB drive and its just not working. I keep getting Error 6 which means it can't unlock the HD. I followed a guide using xlinux to do this. I know the image of the original Xbox HD was successfully xferred over b/c I was able to mount the new drive in xlinux and view its contents.

After the image xfer, I made sure I locked the drive w/ the key generated from LiveInfo. The drive is set to Cable Select. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? Anyone else upgrade their drive and run into any issues?

Have you tried using ConfigMagic by Team Assembly? it's a handy homebrew app for locking the HDD.

hope this helps.

error 6... wrong hdd key...

you really don't have to use xlinux to get this to work. The key is to get your eeprom.bin out of your backup folder.

It sounds like you did all this, but lets make sure...

to properly lock your hdd you will need a dos locking program and liveinfo beta 2 from team assembly.

The tutorial posted on xbox-scene was a little vague concerning the use of live info beta 2.

plug in your new drive and run this program

1. click load eeprom.bin

2. select the eeprom.bin in your backup folder

3. select the new drive from the drop down menu

4. copy down the "calculated password"

this should be different for each hdd since it is a key generated by mixing the eeprom and the serial of the drive.

just go through all this again to get the right key. It should get you past error 6.

Yea, a big DOH!!! I knew it had to be something stupid b/c the process is actually very easy. The trick was to start over from the very beginning..

upgrade to a bigger HD on an xbox without a chip using phoenixloader&bigfonts?

I'd actually like to try that too, could you direct me to whatever tutorial you're using?

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?act=ST&f=45&t=76808&

this is a pretty good tutorial. It assumes that you have already applied the hack to your original hdd with the 007/MA evox installer and the fonts exploit. It then makes a locked copy of your hdd with the extra f space
