EA has defended their markerplace microtransactions policy, claiming that they are giving gamers choice. The Vice President of Online Commerce at EA in a recent podcast said that gamers can now easily unlock content, should they not wish to spend '40-50' hours into a game such as in Tiger Woods.

When drawn upon the issue of charging for what once might have been a cheat code, Lange argued, "There are places where cheat codes are free but those are on websites and those websites are making money by selling advertising." He went on to say, "There'll still be a healthy business around hint guides, magazines, websites… I just look at the Marketplace as yet another extension of ways in which consumers are going to be able to access the content they want."

Major Nelson went on to question Lange about removing cheats from current-gen games and charging for them on the 360 but he evaded the matter by stating, "I don't know if that's right or not. That's not something I've actually gone in and researched." It was certainly the case with The Godfather, where a push-button code to access more cash that was present in the Xbox version was removed from the 360 version.

EA will not see a penny of my money for any of the titles that 'nickle and dime' you to death for features and codes that should be FREE

When cheat codes cost money then you know a company has lost their way...

With people buying Ps3's for 9 grand, idiots selling lines for a ps3, koreans killing each other over ds', I think your extremely wrong. There are idiots out there that don't know what to spend their money on.

Most of the public don't even understand that they are getting fucked. I've had my neighbor saying that "it's cool". I showed him the youtube vid debate and he went a complete 180, feeling like he has been scammed.

It comes down to loyalty or "fanboyism". If people "represent" sony. They feel they can do no wrong and never heard of lik-sang. If people "represent" Nintendo they'll put their faith in this innovative controller that has been hyped to save teh industry and not even look up the specs. If people "represent" a 360. They will buy a 360 for Halo 3 and nothing more.

If they buy the game out of hype the content will follow. It's up to us to show them that they are being screwed and giving an alternative.

i would say it pure ignorance....

the main problem isnt even EA doing so... the main problem is that there is an actual market for such things..... the people that are willing to pay more so they can "pwn"

dont get me wrong... its totally crap... but they are just doing what every company does: trying to make money.

and regardless of all our moaning... they will get away with it.

if EA took their time and made games that were worth a dollar maybe it wouldnt be as bad, but all they are doing is bum rushing a game out then porting it to all the consoles and then micro transactioning everyone to death, only game that was even worth mentiong was fight night round 3 other than that all of their games have been a joke and a waste of time.

EA could port Madden 94' from the SNES and put it on PS3 with only an updated roster, Charge $60, Call it Madden 08'SE and there are enuf stupid people out there it would still sell million's.

Maybe one day EA will start selling video game's Via Pay-Per hour or per round/level, Or to use a health pack you will have to pay $1 so you don't die.

Maybe EA will start selling the Game, Box and Instruction's seperate.

Maybe they could just charge $5 to make your character walk and $10 if you want it to run, Then another $5 to start a new game when ever you die.

The possibility's are endless for EA:)

Yeah the people who are actually buying EA's crap are poison for the whole videogame market. And I really start to wonder if EA has marketing people who look at Forums (which isn't unusual for big companies) or they simply won't get it EVER

If you missed the story EA hires ppl to make posts on most popular forums about how awesome their games are, they were caught promoting Black like that, also some1 who used to work for them told about how they hire ppl who can get high post count and certain authority on popular forums to promote their crap expecting 1 person to have as much as 40 active accounts on different forums. So yes they know everything but as long as sale numbers are good they wont do crap. For us posting on forums is not the way to tell them what we want, instead we must tell other ppl how EA works, how they get screwed over and that the only way to stop them is to not buy their games or at least not use microtransactions. Same goes for in-game advertising: we must say no to it every chance we get or it will be in every game you play within 5 years.
