How do you get 2 HDs in the Xbox withouth modifying the board or removing the DVD drive? To my knowlege a single IDE controller can only control 2 devices. Please correct me if I am wrong, It has been a while since I tried to put more than 2 devices onto an IDE controller. Did they impliment a dual IDE controller into 1 port or what? Sorry for not being on topic at all but I saw that and got confused.

This was a simple process. I added an additional IDE 4 connectors taken from another cable so there are 4 connectors instead of 3, adn installed a power splitter with a toggle switch, so you can select between the drives. The case I have has mounting brackets for 2 drives, so there was no need to remove the DVD drive. I have performed this same mod using Stock Xbox cases, and Internal hard drive bays. Only one drive is playable at a time, that is the only real draw back. This is the same basic concept as the X-tender case mod, which allows up to 3 hard drives.

i was just curious how you did it. I am pretty good with hardware so If i wanted to do it i could figure it out. Basically its an IDE cable with more connectors, and a splitter for the HD power that has a switch. Sounds easy enough. I was mainly wondering if both worked at the same time or if they were one at a time. Thanks for the reply.

As I said, Only one drive is playable at a time. This is not too much of an inconvience. Somthing to rember, ensure all dirves are of the same Brand, and size.
