A gaming blog is claiming that a trusted mole has relayed to them that MS will release a 80GB and 100GB Xbox 360 Hard Drive and potentially 160GB and 200GB versions in the future.

• On the hard drive: They are going to announce and release 80GB or 100GB hard drives, but not sure yet which one but possibly both. As well as the future 160GB and 200GB options.
• Cables: HDMI cables and prices should follow this hard drive news. Expect a $69.99 price.
• Game price drops: The Outfit for the 360 is dropping to $10 at Best Buy “FOR SURE.” It’s also a solid rumor that many will drop to $15 and $20 through the holidays. Madden 06, PDZ, THUG, King Kong, NHL06, Ridge Racer (already is) and most dated sports games.

but its always good to have such things optional for people who want them :P

we will see if there is some truth behind this rumor, but together with the video marketplace anouncement it would make sense.

My concern is that if M$ sell the 20GB HDD for $100 then how much would they charge for a 120 or even a 200?

A M$ made enclosure with a removable HDD bay would be more reasonable, Let me choose the HDD i want to put in my 360.

i repair laptop computers for a local computer shop

and l8lty iv been gettin a lot of the new laptops with SATA laptop drives

so they have got to be dropping in price or budget laptops would just be using the IDE drives.

just a thought.

you know if they were smart they would just enable write access to external media, like an external HDD, MP3 player, etc so downloaded content can be transferred to them and played back via Vista (TM) operating systems and other 360s instead of shelling out an 80gb drive in a few months, then a few months after that a 100gb drive and so forth..

Why don't they just release a damn 250GB if anything.. Unless they are using xvid compression for their movies/TV show downloads its pointless to have a 20GB drive, with 7gb set aside for game buffering..

SATA drives are dropping in price, everything is as it gets older, easier to make and higher yields. Also laptop makers can reduce a 40 pin connector to a 4 pin.. more room for more stuff on a smaller mainboard, plus SATA is faster (appearently) than IDE.

Could be usefull once we can run homebrew off the harddrive... untill then i dont see the need for it except you wornt need to delete the demos you never play...
