A distressed gamer is annoyed that Xbox support will not remove his credit card information from their systems, instead they reccomend he changes his password to safeguard his account.

Dear Kyle,

Thank you for writing Xbox Customer Support!

I do apologize for the inconvenience. I understand that you want to remove your credit card information on your console. However, it is not possible. What you can do instead is to create a passcode on your Xbox Live account to prevent other from using you credit card.

For further assistance, please don't hesitate to write back or call Xbox Phone Support at 1-800-4MYXBOX (1-800-469-9269) at your earliest convenience and we will be happy to help you. We are open everyday from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 A.M. Eastern Time or 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. Pacific Time.

He would get the same response from every other company as well. All he would have to do is log into his live account through xboxlive.com and edit out his pmt information. If he's that worried just report the card lost. Seriously, most companies will not wipe your cc info from their systems.

that guy must be stupid...the CC information isn't stored on the console, it's only stored on the XBL servers.

Happened to a friend of mine. MS kept charging a Gold account to his card and he had to keep calling them to get them to cancel it.
Finally he asked them to remove his card information and they refused.

The only way he could stop them from putting charges on his card was to cancel it and get a new credit card.

I know companies hold credit card information, but to automatically add charges to your card without your approval is wrong.

Best Bet would be to call in and report the card stolen. Then Microsoft can suck a D**K with the old info! Thats what I'm going to do right when my Yr subscription is about to come up.

Nimbus do you have a Paypal account? If you do call them and ask them to remove your cc info. Then ask them to delete your bank account info. They will not do it. That's just one easy example. If you use your cc info with the PS3 the same is going to happen. My credit card numbers are all over the place and it's kind of scary. It's just the way things work.

So just cause that site says its removed, you truly believe that MS has deleted all your credit card info? fat chance.. They still have it on their servers, just you can't get access to it anymore.

This is why I only buy things with my credit card that cannot be found in-store.. As most teenage gamers should do instead of running out and getting a credit card so MS always knows where you are at.

I work for MS, I know exactly how it works...there is an active database, and a non-active database...no one is allowed access to the non-active database except for a few select people ONLY when dealing with the customer, and the car carrier themselves.

You could even call them and ask them to make the card active in their database again, and they are not allowed to do it.

Do you have to add a different payment method to delete the first?
