Some nut at an Xbox forum claims that he has landed himself a copy of Gears of War from BestBuy. He says it went through as 'God of War' at the POS and smugly asks his forum buddies if they have any questions about the game.

We think this might be some kid trying to have a bit of fun teasing people about the launch of one of the most looked forward to 360 games this season.

As for the kid, is it really that surprising? GoW comes out in 2/3 days.

You bash the site and Zeus .. well here this might squash the idea that this is purely rumor. I find it hard to believe that a person can get achievements in the game if doesn't actually own it.

Thats awesome! Holy crap if this is a hoax it's a good one. If it's not then the manager at that Best Buy is going to be in deep ****! I thought the game just went gold this week :confused:

Theres his gamercard showing GOW. hmmm it's legit but could the guy be lying about the best buy thing and he found this tag by accident. Maybe it's one of the developers, beta testers, etc. gamertag? If you think about it there wouldn't only have been 1 copy sold. Those things would have been out of that store so quick. So, this kid got the only copy at Best Buy. That is the part I find hard to believe.

It's true I got it and walked up to the checkout and it rang up as a ps2 for $129. I went back and got 4 more I am going to sell them on ebay and make a fortune thanks Best Buy. Seriously though he said it came up as God of War. That's not even out on the xbox or the 360 so I don't think it would have been entered into the system like that. Any idiot can tell the difference in an xbox/xbox360 case and a PS2 game case. Although I wouldn't put it past them as in my experience the Best Buy people aren't the smartest people around.

I could have it by now too as my uncle is the regional manager of the local gamestops in my area but I just don't particularly want the game. Sorry if I have committed some video game sin by not wanting the game. It's just that I have never been interested in the First/Third person shooters just not my cup of tea I'm more into the Racing and Adventure games. Although I do have a guarantee of a free PS3 and Wii coming to me as an early Christmas present. I won't get them early or anything but at least I won't have to pay $600 for a ps3. Because he is buying me one system and my parents are getting me the other one. And I didn't have to stand in line in the cold to get a preorder either HA HA.

thats because it was a Hoax... he was linking to a Beta Tester acct..

I can't beleave people fell for it.. I actually read threads..:p

as for it being in any store... Epic already said they are not shipping until the 7th.. so that means stores won't even have it in stock till about the 8th or 9th through the 14th.

major outlet retails have there items sku added by a head office, once the item arrives in stores then the item is then checked into inventory simply by scanning it. if it rang up anywhere as god of war then it would be at every one because of the sku.

i just called the gamestop i preordered at and they said if you preordered the game then you can pick it up tomorrow night when it arrives on there truck. im taking this with a grain of salt though because last time they said it arrived the day of the ship date i was left looking like a noob asking where is my game

I don't even deal with Gamestop or any other of those shops anymore. They act like they're so exclusive haha. The last time I tried to get a game from them was for Saints Row. I just stopped because I was passing by (even though I already hated their stores). I got the "you're a jackass" look when I asked them for a copy haha. They said nobody has it if you didn't preorder. So, I got in my car and went to Best Buy. I strolled right in and grabbed one of the copies right off of the huge display. There was atleast 100 copies sitting there. I guess Best Buy employees raided all the Gamestops, EB Games, etc. so they could be the only store in town with that game.

hey this guy is tellin the truth over here at the bestbuy in orlando i was at bestbuy on oct.31 lookin for a sata cable and seened it with a free shrit. i did not have the money to buy it then and wen i went back today they had took them off the shelves so since my girl works there i had asked her wat happen and she said they mad a mistake and had to take them off the shelves dam am so mad....
oh you mean the PREORDER with the Tshirt, MS points and empty game boxes... :rolleyes:
if above post were true... that few minutes/days it was on display, people would have bought them and been all over the net like... WOOOOOOOO!!!!
