If you haven't heard of Gears of War by now, well you must be hiding from the world of games very well. MS are reportedly exclaiming that demand for the game will be second only to the massively selling Halo 2. Just to give you a little perspective on the matter, Halo 2 set records of $125 million worth of sales in just one day. We'll see how close Gears can come to matching this...

Well, it appears that everything is going according to plan. Kim informed Reuters that demand for Gears of War has been so high that it's only second to the blockbuster Halo 2. As you may remember, Halo 2 set a record with day-one sales of $125 million. The game had pre-orders of 1.5 million and an additional million copies were sold in its first day of release.

Kim would not say exactly how many copies of Gears have been presold, but it's obviously quite high. "I can say that the demand, at least in terms of pre-orders and support and demand from retail partners, has been outstanding all over the world," he commented. "For Microsoft Game Studios it is the number two behind only Halo 2. That's a significant number."

Hm...either his sarcasm meant neither sounded good or he meant that those 2 games are the ones that DO sound good to him. Because Resistance is the only game for the PS3 that is really impressive in any way.

I've also heard that the part in the new commercial for Gears which has Tears For Fears' Mad World (Remix) in the back, is close to actual gameplay. Which, isn't really surprising since the game itself already looks as good as the trailer and the camera effects are about the same.

Wow guess I'll just rush out and buy it then.....or maybe not.

Hype always turns me away. Guess that's why I don't listen to brittany spears.

I've been hyped for this game since I first caught wind of it. I pre-ordered it back in July 2005 when I pre-ordered my Xbox 360 console. The new commerical with Mad World playing has got me even more hyped for this game.

Can't wait. Have 2 copies pre-ordered now, regular and collectors.

Brittany Spears has something to listen too? I though she just looked good on muted TV's.... weird.

nah im a fps fan but neither of them impress me really. almost every fps that has come out since halo1/2 has been a 'halo killer' or 'as good as halo'

maybe the problem is that theyre just too hyped up.

I wonder if it'll sell as well as it's being hyped up to. The installed base for the first XBos was much higher when Halo 2 was released.

All of the footage used in the ad uses the actual hardware and game engine (no extra memory and more powerful GPU like with the MGS4 trailer) so there's no display of pre-rendered CGI involved. Of course, when enemy AI and random physics don't have to be calculated, that allows for more detail of what's left. And it is possible that's the case here too. Whether or not that's the case, it should be clear soon.

I don't even like the 360 which is evident in my posts, but this game does look great. Has any one seen the new video? It has a great song on it, but I don't know what it's called. Plz help.

This is the video so that you can hear the song. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/viewer.aspx?productId=1075&assetTypeId=2&shotId=2
