I have a Japanese Gamecube and i want to know if i can use a UK (European) power supply with it.?
The gamecube power supply is external (the unit itself powers on 12v.) so this does make sense, in theory. Can anyone in the UK with a Japanese/American Gamecube confirm that it works?
thanks
I believe there is a chance that works, if you are using a UK GC power supply in the UK with your USA/Japanese GameCube unit. However you most definitely shouldn't use a Usa/Japanese power supply in teh UK, you'll fry your supply and possibly your GC unless you use some step down device.
Maybe you'll get lucky and someone around here can say if they've done that successfully or not, I don't really know since I'm in North America and don't have to worry about that crap.

lol. i admire your honesty ;)
so far all indications say it works but i still am looking for confirmation from someone has done it.
i do have a step-down convertor but im trying to get rid of those (and the danger of any jap/us machines blowing up) so far ive re-fitted a mult-voltage PSU in my jap xbox and ps2 so there's no danger there. its just the gamecube that i cant get an auto-regulating internal PSU for. As it is external I have read that it doesnt matter if i use a UK PSU as it's still pumping the required 12 volts to the cube regardless.
i guess it will work.
but has anyone here tried it?

It will work fine, It's only 12v DC coming out of the power supply after all. You could even run it off of a car battery if you wanted to be mobile (although car batteries are a bit heavy !!lol)

I've read this on numerous forums and they all say that it works.
I myself never bothered to do it though.
The stepdown works good enough for me :)

The adaptor for the gamecube converts all power to 12v DC.. so if u live in the UK at 240v it gets converted to 12v, if you live in america on 120v it gets converted to 12v, so all gamecubes get 12v DC which means if you plug an american gamecube or japanese gamecube into a UK gamecube adaptor it will work correct because it supplies 12v DC.
