Hi,

I've recently bought an old PS2 with Myth chip and would also like to use it for playing movies and mp3s.

I've made a CD with ulaunchelf, SMS player, Reality player and some more elfs (mostly homebrew games and demos). I've booted ulaunchelf and launched various elfs with success. Though, when I tried to use the players I ran into problems. After successful start of SMS or Reality player, I changed the CD with AVI file, then click on Browser and I couldn't see any content on CD.

After awhile I thought the problem must be changing the CD, so I decided to boot ulaunchelf and before going to ulaunchelf's browser I would just eject the CD and put it back in. The browser couldn't locate any elfs as could've previously. Also I have noticed that after an elf is started the CD spins indefinitely.

Also a friend of mine with brand new PStwo and Modbo chip is having the same problems.

Is this the correct behaviour? You can't eject CDs? Or do I have to put in specially formatted CD?

Maybe a Dev1 boot of the elf can help.
But im not sure.
Also i didnīt now everything about the cheapmods like modbo or myth (i have installed both of them only one time, and this was to much for me:D i dont like clones with stealed code in it).
So,search about the Dev1 Feature, when the chip have it,install ulaunch and SMS to your MemCard and boot from card! ;)
Then it also doesnīt work, burn the disc with the moviefiles with MODE B/2 (NERO).

Yesterday I moved SMS to memory card (I haven't had memory card until yesterday :) and now it works! I can swap as many CDs I like and it works. Strange. :)

About Modbo and Myth chips. I don't like clones either, but I haven't had chance to pick a chip, I bought PS2 that was already modded. Another thing about these chips - I am having problems booting PS1 games. Only when I disable the chip, it boots the game, though this means that I can load only originals, not backups. :( Even if I force PS1/DVD boot mode (by pressing X button), it doesn't work (even originals don't work then). Is there something special about booting the PS1 game? Or is this common problem with Myth chip?

Its an myth problem!;)
The Code from the chip arenīt optimized for the myth hardware, its an stolen code from the matrix infinity chips.
Every chip with stolen code has problems, also xeno_ps,modbo and the myth series.;)

Ok, thanks for explaination. I don't bother with PS1 as long as it is properly emulated on my PSP. ;)
