gba doom is a complete joke compared to it.
the graphics and gameplay are identical to the pc version, because it is the pc version, ported. it has a nice framerate too.

the vid below that one looks soo cool, it looks more like unreal but the 2D characters let it down, are they made by different people? and one more thing everyone nos that quake is getting ported to the DS well apparently as it says on the website halflife runs on a modified version of quake (the old one ) which means if someone puts the effort in we might be playing halflife by winter of even a modified version of the old counterstrike ? tempting innit
Great Vid, thanks for doing that.
Hope this works on my G6 when it arrives tomorrow.
Those Wad files - Are they unique to this version or are they the standard ones? Also I guess are they the shareware version or the full version?
I have a Doom I,II, Ultimate CD somewhere so I guess I could pull them from that if it uses the standard ones.

the doom.wad there is doom shareware. ive replaced it with the doom.wad from the full game and it seems to work perfectly. i cant get it to work with doom2.wad (which of course is doom 2) unfortunately.
maybe it would work if i just renamed it cause its hardwired to look for doom.wad..
*edit* yep. doom 2 works fine, just have the wad called doom.wad

Someone else tried it with a G6 Lite and it didn't work.
seems like the G6 is not that good for homebrew at the moment. Maybe I will get a separate card just for that.
Thanks for the info. Probably saved me some time and frustration.

Had a lot of fun burning through a few levels last night with this. I have a Supercard Mini and it is great except I don't get any sound at all. The movement is quick and smooth and all the graphic effects that I saw seemed spot on. Obviously this is still a work in progress but it a bloody good work in progresss. If they could go further and add Wi-Fi support it would be fantastic fun.

I havnt tried any others yet, no - but as someone else said Doom2 definitely works by renaming it to doom.wad also.
The one I posted was a modified goldeneye doom wad originally created for using on the GP32 version of doom (hence the filename) - works great on the DS tho.
LordWill0722, yeah just download the wad i linked earlier, rename it to doom.wad, stick that on your card with DSDOOM.NDS and prboom.wad and it should work :D - no sound tho :(

Y button changes weapons, but it works weird. its like theres 9 weapon slots and each time you tap the button it moves to the next slot. so when you start you got a gun and fist, if you have the gun you gotta hit the button 8 times before its back to the fist, but then only once more to go to gun, and once more if you had the shotgun.. i guess its this way cause its not done yet!
other buttons are
X run fast
B open doors/activate switches
A shoot/punch
L and R strafe
START menu
SELECT select menu items

If I press select duirng boot up it goes to the main DS menu & doesn't show up on the supercard menu (as it's a DS file). The only way it 'runs' is if I let it boot up normally to the supercard menu & then chose the game then it runs as described before. I am assuming I don't need to patch any of these files? HELP

Unfortunately, no. I managed to get it to the program menu by renaming it to BOOTME.nds, but it doesn't recognize the files ("Unable to initialize media device"). It fails with a message saying "CheckIWAD: IWAD tag /doom.wad not present". Unless they update it so that it so that it will recognize the MMP and MMD as flash carts it can't be run.

That is a Doom game that they are making based on the doom weapons, enemies, and textures. They are going to have new levels for it and implement a look feature. The program they are working on is not for playing the original Doom game on the DS.

OK, help/inspiration required here. Please bear with me....baaaaaa
Flashed NDS with Supercard CF. I put the following files into the CF card - dsdoom.nds (604kb), PRBOOM.CFG (10kb), prboom.wad (277kb) -these were all acquired from the 1.0.0 download. THen I add doom.wad (4098kb) and run the dsdoom.nds file - all is well and the game runs as the shareware game. So, I replace the doom.wad file with the doom2 wad file (14263kb or 14,604,584 bytes), which I gather is the right size for Doom 2 ver 1.9. I then rename this file to dsdoom.wad and run as before. This gets stuck during loading saying "I read: read failed: EOF.
Anyone know what's going on or even wrong?
Also what does "wait for packet" mean?
Thanks

Being honest I take great umbrage at the suggestion that it was somehow fair game. The directory in question, while indexed was *not* publicly linked and should *never* have been announced and linked in a public forum.
Most programmers use an open directory to give builds to testers, it doesn't mean people like you are free to distribute things all over the net.

horrible comparison. i did not REMOVE anything. stealing is nothing like copying.
a clearer comparison might be an artist is painting a picture in a building, and theres an open window in which you can view the unfinished painting. i told people that you can see this unfinished work in the window and some went by and snapped photographs of the painting.
they did not take the painting, they made a copy of it. the painting remains.

Doesn't mean the artist won't be annoyed by having unwanted guests hanging around. You're missing the point totally. Once upon a time people asked permission before distributing other people's work, these days scumbags like you hunt through people's servers looking for stuff that isn't linked publicly.
I suppose you're the kind of person who stands around staring into people's windows because the curtains are open.

For the G6 you need to use this version:
http://davr.org/ds2/doomfc.zip
No saving unfortunately and it only supports the shareware version (included). Hopefully the G6 people will release the source for their fatlib and people can start supporting the G6 more easily.
There's a good homebrew thread in the G6 forum (stickied)
