A french website claims that Red Steel for the Nintendo Wii cost 10 million Euro's to develop ($12m dollars). This is one of the most promising third party titles for the Wii and we're sure Ubisoft will be happy when it eventually hits the shelves.

A French news site is reporting that the biggest third-party title for the Wii, Red Steel, will incur costs of around 10 million Euros in development. Now, for you American folks, that's roughly 12.65 million buckaroos. It may seem like a lot, but in the grand scheme of things, it isn't that big of a deal.

Think about development costs for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Imagine if this game was being developed on either of those systems, we could easily see that doubled (maybe even tripled in the case of the PS3), due to excessive costs associated with creating those photo-realistic HD graphics. Also, this game has been in development for under a year and will launch with the console during the fourth quarter of this year, which again would make costs rise significantly would it be made for the other two systems, as even more man power would have to be dedicated to pushing the game out on time.

They'll use the graphics engine over and over again; just like unreals engine is. They'll make money back on it even if the game bombs; and it will.

You realize that everytime you tout that anything Wii will bomb, you're just making yourself look like a pessimistic tool.

If you guys want to think that their not going to use a first person engine for another game, then think that.

If it cost only $12M it will make profit for sure (even it sale only 0.25M games). And that will make more games to Wii fore sure too.

Good think is it still under price than ps3's games. And thanks Wiimode it's more fun that ps3 too.

Either I had multiple windows open and replyed to the wrong one or you changed your post, not sure which one. I was responding to a post where you were saying that the wii and the game were going to bomb miserably.

Red Still will be a nice success to Ubisoft, due the interface support in Wii, to play with the "gimmick" ( Ahem.. Like somepeople says...;) )Wiimote , makes the FPS actually "playable" on a console and not that crap of analog based shooters commonly until today's.
