The Japanese Mario Hoops 3 on 3 DS commercial has hit Youtube, it shows how the game will utilize the touchscreen of the DS quite well and it's worth a watch just to see little Mario perfom a slam dunk!

It's made by Square Enix so there are some Final Fantasy characters in it. Ninja, Black Mage, White Mage, Moogle and Cactuar. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/ab3j/character/character02.html There are some more characters to come, not sure who it'll be. I like that they're putting in generic characters rather than Cloud, Squall, Tidus, etc. I wouldn't mind them throwing in a taru-taru (sp?) from FFXI though. They're so cute.

This game looks awesome. This game and FFIII are the ones I'm most looking forward to in the upcoming months.

imo the games are actually good. more fun than the realistic sports games. tennis, golf, strikers and baseball. i havent had as much fun playing those games since the 2k series on dreamcast.

im actually looking forward to playing the 3on3 game. but like other people, im not so sure how well the touch screen will work out, as long as theres an option to play the traditional way *dpad, buttons* i think it will be a good game.

is this on wfc? or is it local adhoc only?

yea but nintendo and some fans say about sony or microsoft that they have no love in games anymore.

What nintnedo are the ones who are making anything with the name Mario on it, no thought nothing to it just Mario Insert Name Here and then put a 39.99 quid price tag to it.

Its really starting to take the piss, yes they maybe fun but theyre not games you will play for more than a few weeks, after that you put it down and get bored with it.

Just like Nintendogs everyone were WOW dog, stylus, touch screen. I did and then god its the worse DS game i have, nothing to do but the same old thing, at least Mario 64 DS actually has a long fun life, but all these Mario Insert Name games are just pathetic.

I don't agree, so far all the Mario sports games are fun and I play any time I can get a chance to. If it was say just Tennis instead of Mario Tennis and had characters that were just made up I'd still think it was a great game because the gameplay is great.

yes not sayin tennis is crap, but nintendo seem to just make any game now and put their slogan "Mario" on it.

Its kinda like a celebrity being here doing that after a while you get fed up of them and mario now has no value what so ever, back in the day it was like the normal mario games, save peach.

Now nintendo are making anything and dont care they just bang Mario in it and with it been nintnedo's main charactor all the fans go out and buy it.

Lets put it diffrently.

Would you buy all the games that Marios had if it was say
Microsoft =Conker the squirell
Sony =Solid Snake

I dont think so, thats why only nintendo dare make the crap games all the time because they know if it has mario on it youll buy it.

Which again is why im loosing faith with nintendo, they produce games thats pretty crap.

Name a Game Nintendo have made thats been excellent, new and left you wanting to play it again just after completing.

Only Nintendo game that had that affect on me was Metroid, then i got Metroid 2 and it felt like i was playing the same game nothing really new to it.

Would nintendo start making mario like he was back in the day, New Super Mario Bros is excellent, only thing crap is Luigi is left out, you ahve to do a cheat to play as him, it should have been selectable like the old games were.

I disagree with you saying the games are crap. If the game is good then okay who cares if Mario is in almost every sports game? Don't say its just nintendo fans only I know people who NEVER played gamecube or cared about mario play Mario strikers and they love it. Yea Nintendo is getting lazy but "if it ain't broke don't fix it". If it sells and people love it then oh well so be it.

I think the Mario thing is just so that it's more appealing for female gamers. Mario, Yoshi, Boo, Shyguy, etc; they are all appealing to female gamers. One example, I remember buying SmashCourt Pro Tennis game for PS2, fun, nice graphics, great physics, but chicks don't dig it. They like to play with cute characters instead.

I agree that they're putting Mario on everything to try to sell more, but most of the games are pretty good. I haven't tried them all because I don't buy it if it doesn't appeal, but all the ones I have tried so far have been good. I play a lot of games with my buddies so having a game that's fun to play is what I look for and a lot of these games like Mario Tennis are awesome to play with friends, especially before going to the bar :P.

As for Solid Snake, he's one of my favourite characters, but I wouldn't buy it if the game is crap. Take the PSP for example, Metal Gear Acid was the worst game I played, my buddy rented it and let me borrow it because he hated it. I ended up hating it because I think the cards ruined the gameplay of a shooter.

I think Nintendo is more geared towards the family and more for fun while Sony and Microsoft are more for serious gamers. Just look at the controller for the Wii, you can tell it's geared more toward the family.

Retroboy

the controller isnt family, they say it is but to be honest barly any one takes theyre console downstairs and playes with the family.

The controller is a terrible design (nice idea but) the buttons are spread apart if a game requires you to press buttons how you ment to do it.

The controller is to boosts nintendo's gadgety thing they do, to make you love it more, but at the end of the day they controller isnt important, its the games and its graphics, so nintendo could have put more effort into improving the power of the console.

Retroboy, do you have a family? Do you have kids? It doesn't seem like it, because your not making sense. The Wiimote can be the most complicated controller with a huge learning curve, or it can be more simple than the first NES controller. They are even gearing some games towards family games; can you argue that Nintendo does that?

How is the Wiimote a terrible design? How are the buttons too spread apart? If you are playing with the nunchuck and the Wiimote you have the left analog and two left shoulder buttons, plus motion sensing. On the Wiimote side of things you have the 4 button D-pad and the A button, the trigger underneath and motion sensing. The small buttons underneath your hand 'a' and 'b' are for when you are playing with the Wiimote held sideways without the nunchuck. The design is perfect and most magazines and websites agree. I guys you just didn't understand.

I agree that Nintendo come out with gadgets. The Wii is just like the DS. The DS got good when the games got good. The graphics aren't as good as the PSP's but the DS is the best selling console in the world right now. And because of the DS people are going to give the Wii a try. The Wii will have good games, we know that from E3. The DS has saved Nintendo and the DS is what is going to make the Wii the best system this time around.

Why are we talking about the Wii in a DS games topic? lol

i dont have kids, but it doesnt take and idiot to know that families barly ever play video games like they would sit and watch a dvd.

the last time my famly played a game together was comidor 64 and thats only because my dad was the one who set it up and loaded the tapes.

Doese anyone here take theyre console down stairs and play with their family?

A bunch of families play video games with their kids. Just because you don't do something doesn't mean the whole world doesn't do something. Parents need to get involved in a kids life and a kid likes to play video games, then the parents should play with them.

It's just like board games, a lot of families will play board games together. The only difference is instead of playing on a board you're playing with a controller in your hand.

I know a lot of families that play GBA and Gamecube, but I know a lot of people who aren't Nintendo hates. I guess if you hate Nintendo you don't know many people who love Nintendo and play their systems with their families.

lets forget nintendo, im talking about people who play games with their family, its very rare now, i can bet that the Wii will be like any other console, up in your room, maybe the odd family might sit together and play it, but thats not because its a nintendo.

families arent like they were back in the day, parents older and gaming tastes are diffrent and most parents dont even like computer games anyways.

Retroboy you forgetting one thing. You don't have a wife and kids. I do have a wife and will soon be having kids. All I use to play was PS2 and Xbox, but there just isn't enough games that my wife can get into on those systems. I like playing games with my wife and I can do that with the GC and the NDS. When kids from her family come over they also enjoy playing video games with us. I know that you think that family gaming is dead, but where I live its alive and ticking. I can name tons of families by name that play games together.

LOL, it doesnt matter if i have kids, my brothers have kids and yes they play my consoles, but we never play as a family like nintendo state the Wii to be.

The Wii is no diffrent to the GC, yes powerfuller and diffrent controller, but the fact still remains you buy it, you play it, my cousins will play it BUT IT WILL NEVER GET PLAYED MY ME, MY MAM, MY DAD (FAMILY) as theyre not interested in computer games as so will many others parents.

Just because nintendo say its a family console, doesnt change the person like all consoles buy it, goes up in their room sets it up and plays it.

How many people (apart from dreary79)here can actually say theyve sat down when the family (mum, dad, gran, granpa, sister, brother)are together and brought your GC down and played it as a family, I know i havent.

My sister plays video games with her kids all the time. When her husband is home (he's in the army and often overseas) they all play together. It's just one of the family activities like when they go bowling together or play in the yard. When I went to visit them last easter I played along with them. A lot of my older cousins (in their 30s) play video games with their kids all the time.

My mom, aunt, and dad used to come into my room to play my games way back when I had an NES. And my mom is always asking me to teach her how to play my PS2 and DS games.

I agree that you don't see a lot of the older generation who just don't take games seriously picking them up but a lot of the younger parents now grew up playing games themselves. We're far enough into the age of video games that there are families where every member is gamer in their own right so it's only natural that they'd play games as a family.
