Im kinda having trouble chosing between three modchips-- i dont have much money but at the same time, i want to get the best modchip i can. Here's the first option--

http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/customer/product.php?productid=2432&cat=4&page=1

Now i got Duo chips for my gamecube and the Bootrate is just horrible-- but it was great for my Xbox so im just not sure if i should get risk it overall-- but it happens to be one of the newest chips released so--

http://www.psxtune.com/psx2/ordermatrixe.html

Now i had the matrix chip for my previous PS2 and it has served me well for 2 whole years until a month ago where it just didn't boot any games pass the logo screen and just stood black the whole time-- i ended up opening my console only to mess up a few things putting it back that caused my Playstation 2 not to function anymore and basically was kinda pissed. And the last one--

http://www.psxtune.com/psx2/orderdmse.html

I have no experince with these chips, but the fact that the bootrate is 100% at all times has me willing to save up another week for it. But im not interested in having to flash a modchip first, not that it's a problem-- i just really rather not, but if its the best of the three, i can tolerate it.

So can anyone please reccemond any of those three to me-- i currently have $35 by the way.

First what ps2 model do you have ? On ConsoleSource they had a Ghost 2 chip fro $20 which an excellent chip with great features like Matrix Infinty or DMS4 has but for a great price. If you just care to boot your backups, imports and orginals go with the Duo 3. Also look for the a modchip called the Modbo 745 its a Matrix Infinity Clone and has all the options in a MI except for being able to reflash the chip other than that its a great clone of the MI. Also look out for a chip called the Octopus 3D its a 8 WIRE modchip and boots backups and has dev1. Check out the PS2-Scene.org fourm on any questions on modchips cuz maxconsole kinda sucks for ps2 info. they are more xbox and somewhat ngc news site.

To sum it up

Ghost 2 - Flashable (FW Site here: http://zetha.lescigales.org/) lots of features, Play online with backups- $20 @ ConsoleSource

Duo 3 - not flashable, boots all games - $15-$20

Modbo 745 - a Clone of the MI just not flashable - $15-$20

Octopus 3D - basicly the same as a Duo 3 but with Dev1 as a plus - $20-$30

Its a basicly a tie between Ghost 2 (flashable) and the Modbo 745 (works like a MI but NOT Flashable) its up to you

-- Well first of all, thank you for replying ^_^-- i have a V7 Playstation 2. So far, that Ghost Chip sounds pretty damn good, i might order it as soon as possible. It's hard to beleive that i could possibly go online with backups. Is the boot rate very good and fast as well for backups ?! mainly DVD-R's that's all i really wanted to be honest and i rather not take a risk with Duo anymore now that ive gave it some more thought. It was just a horrible experince for my GC with that chip. Also one more question-- flashing is that hard is it and will i have too to play backups ?

Ghost 2 is pretty good chip its from the same team that created the legendary Messiah 2 chip that now alot of HK Clone Modchips use its name (Messiah 3.7, HK Messiah 2, BlueChip, etc....) For $20 smackers i think thats a darn good chip for its features and for the price. I have currently a Duo 2 SE in a V5 PS2 it has worked awesome if you want to just boot backups but since my laser is aged and is crapping out (im the process in getting a new ps2 slimline) THe only duo chip really avoid was the Duo 2 GT it had alot of bugs and problems with the chip. is really want to save some dough and still have a basic boot backups chip Foundmy.com has Duo 2 SE for $9 and Duo 3 for $15. So since you have a V7 you could get a Duo 2 SE for $9 or go get a Ghost 2 for $20

-- Sorry to double post but i just got the chip installed and it doesn't bootbackups at all-- im guessing i have to flash it first, can you instruct me on how please..im totally lost right now.

Edit: I found the latest firmware and how to install it, and wasted 13 CD-rs and 2 DVD-R's trying only to get a Red screen that says " Insert A PS2 Format Disc "-- i tried going to the fourm of the home site for support and i have to wait for some cruddy adminstrator to activate my account and its taking too long, i went through alot of trouble to get someone to mod this one and took a good friend of mine 2 whole hours to get it. I dont know where else to find the other versions of firmware because the people on the fourms are obviously too conersative about it in topics, and u have to PM someone to get the links for them. Im sorry if it feels like im ranting, but this is very annoying, i didnt think flashing was going to be essential to play backups and i got enough of this with my Xbox, but this one is just just pissing me off.
