So does anybody know what happened to Hello DS? It was looking promising but now the site is down. A VoIP feature using DS's WiFi would be unreal!! I saw old ad's about DS Speak form back in 2005, but I guess Nintendo unfortunately dropped that, or so it seems anyways. Regardless, with how much VoIP stuff is happening these days, it can't be too long until someone make a VoIP homebrew...can it?

i think it is not that easy to make a voip client for the ds. this has to be compatible to other client e.g. gtalk or something. I'd LOVE to see a voip client for the ds.

I just installed Internetcalls (http://www.internetcalls.com/en/index.html) on my PC and it's pretty amazing. Does anyone know if there has been any further development on a DS VoIP app? It's academic for me at the minute, as I can't seem to get any homebrew to connect to wifi, but it'd be probably the most useful thing in the world to be able to call people's phones numbers with my DS if I'm out and about in a wifi area.

well first it's not a VOIP like you would expect. His goal was VOIP for DS to DS, not DS to Internet. Since Ad hoc hasn't been hacked and added to the wifi libraries, I don't see the project progressing.
Nintendo actually had a demo of a voip for ds to ds with Mario characters' head on the topscreen (like Mario 64) who's mouth syncs with your speech.

Your talk of ad hoc is a bit over my head I'm afraid. Does it mean a full DS to anything else voip app is out of the question then?
As my limited understanding goes, voice chat is possible in Metroid and Beup can connect to PCs as well as DSs, so is hooking up to the phone network the stumbling block?
