Whatever you do dont try to turn it on and take the battery out asap. You sould dismantle it and do what the person above said but leave it to dry for atleast 24 hrs because lasers and water dont go together very well.

Ok I bought this PSP on eBay and it came with one of those graphics stickers you stick like a faceplate well today I got tired of it so I peeled it off and used alcohol to take of the very sticky surface of the sticker and when I turned my PSP on I saw the home menu and like 2 seconds later is went black! but with the green light still on well I turned it off and turned it back on and the home menu was working fine so i decided to listen to some music but when I tried to make the volume lower the brightness of the screen went higher and then when I hold down the screen button the sound goes off that was like 5 minutes ago NOW! the volume doesnt go higher or lower at all and when I flip the hold button doen and back up it does all kinds of weird crap! like volume goes up, sound goes off, brightness higher lower and lowest, then after all that the PSP goes black again! PLEASE DOES ANYONE KNOW IF I SHOULD OPEN IT OR NOT!????????

You should let your psp dry out for 24 hours. PCB's can get wet but if they are used while they are wet, circuit lines will get crosse dand wierd **** will happen from what you are seeing all the way to shorting it out to a brick.

I once dropped my treo 600 cell into a puddle of water outside my house.... i freaked out... i shook it until no more water came out... I then put the hair dryer to it which if done right is okay, but if you let it heat up too much, can do some damage. I then left it in the hot dry garage overnight. The next morning, I plugged it in and low and behold it worked.

So I would just leave it alone for a while and then hope it works once it is completely dry.

If you try to return it, know that there is a wetness detection strip which shows whether it has been wet or not. So you may get a replacement or you may not.

If you are having problems with the bottom row of buttons not working and the screen going blank. You can get the part here http://www.psptree.co.uk/item--PSP-button-bar-with-ribbon-cable--Part15.html
You only have to take the front cover off and it is in front of you,the ribbon is attached to a connector. To release this get a very small flat bladed screwdriver and flick it upwards it doesnt need any force.

I had been experiencing problems with the bottom buttons not working for days now and at first I thought it was simply due to the bottons not making enough contact. However, after trying various ways to fix it the problem still occured randomly. Sometimes the Home button would stop working and other times the volume buttons wouldn't work which was very annoying. After reading this thread it got me thinking so I replaced the ribbon with one from a bricked Psp and it all works again!!

Hopefully it has solved the problem, thanks for the advice typhoon11

i have a problem similar to these. i think that i got mine a little wet, and all of the buttons except HOME, Both VOLUME buttons, BRIGHTNESS, and MUSIC TONE work fine i think. for instance, when i try to turn the volume up, it wont work or it will change the brightness. the brightness button doesnt work, and if i hit the music tone button, the screen shuts off but the light is still on. My volume will not go up at all without the headphones, and when i use the headphones, the volume will go from very quiet to very loud. I tried to play a game, music, and videos, and photos. none of that seens to be effected. pretty much the bottom buttons. and the screen loos fine. just like it always has.
Do i need one of the botton bar/sensor things?

the first thing you do if your electronic gadjet is wet is TAKE THE GODDAMNED baterry out.

let it dry properly, leave it on the tv.if u r confident, after it dried, rub some alchohol. becareful not to get drunk..LOL..ok ok i m kidding.

if god loves you, it should work properly.

once, i heard a loud thumping coming from my washing machine. then i found out it was my sony erricsson inside my pants. good.
